If so then that's a different story I guess. From watching the showmatch with the massive overlays plus insanely unbearable sync issues I assumed it was from a replay. As has been stated over and over again by absolutely everyone involved with the league, the show match was not NASL. It was a way of announcing it, but it was not a showcase of how they're going to do things. That is not true. This was their test run for the most part. The technology they used was a showcase of what is to come (with gradual improvements) It actually wasn't. Have a listen at yesterday's SOTG. It wasn't a showcase of their technology whatsoever.
Then as it's been stated many time before, everyone involved in this needs to get their shit together and get on the same page.
I mean, how can that be stated when in the OP of this very FAQ it states
"Production value & Showmatch: Remember, this showmatch was to introduce and announce the league. It was also a test run of our capabilities. Please be aware that our production value will only be improving from this point onward and that we are aware of the problems in the cast and will be fixing them!"

It was a test-run.
In my opinion, everyone is giving up before anything has started. I never posted in this thread anymore because it's just frantic whining with everyone's heads off. I feel like a llama passive with my views and everyone else is compelled to bitch and moan before the first match has even started.
Wait and see...

i am extremely disappointed that this will not be live. that is part of the greatness of the GSL knowing that it is live and the x-factor that we can see live new strategies that have never been seen before. also the showmatch was great and all but it was very easy to tell that is was pre-recorded and if it had been any other two players in the world i probably would have not watched as the production value was not that great. i would much rather seen the loading screen with two players than know that im watching a replay. and i was planning on paying for the premium stream but knowing that it will not be live there is no way that i will pay to watch a stream of replays. kthxbye
edit: no high level quality of production will be worth the fact of it not being live.

People are getting frustrated with the contradicting information coming from different sources. That is a legitimate reason imo. The ambiguity in the cast live vs broadcast delay was also a legitimate complaint imo. Teams limited to 5 members as well as the Korean situation are another.
Yes, there are many people bitching and moaning when they have no right to do so. But don't disregard the real problems because of it.

How long is the optimal video? I can see myself answering for 10 or 30 seconds on each.

MLG receives so much unnecessary criticism, including by the cast of SOTG, a little show that features the face of NASL, that it would unfair if NASL was not subject to the same scrutiny.

Do you have the production capacity of introducing "split screen" as an element in your casting? You will most likely already have two observers in the game or more. If for example each observer would focus on certain areas of the maps or game events, just like a camera crew would have certain focus areas in a live sports game (a friend of mine once had the excellent task of searching out the pretty girls in the audience), I imagine the viewer experience and 'storytelling' would be drastically improved if this was done well
I'm not 100% sure, but we will PROBABLY have the ability to do this. I can't give full details of how exactly our broadcasts will work, but we will be practicing over the next 1.5 months to get a system that we like and make sure that when the league starts it will be great
Since the NASL will effectively have 5 10-player pools, what will the procedure be for separating ties at the end of divisional play? Will there be tie breaker matches? If not, what metric (head-to-head, win:loss ratio) will determine the rank of the tied players ?
Rules will be posted later.
You're going to possibly put a cap on koreans, does this mean you may put a cap on europeans, if too many apply and are able to participate? Since you're going to put a cap on the amount of people that are allowed from each team, that would mean that europeans are going to have a very high representation at the tournament, because as far as I know, there's alot more teams in europe than in NA. I could be entirely wrong though.
There is no cap on Koreans, or Europeans, or anyone... until we get to 50 players.
What counts as a "team" for purposes of eligibility? If I decided I wanted to start a team and I was the only member would I be eligible? What if I convinced some friends to also list themselves as members?
I've already defined what a team is multiple times. A team is a recognized entity that has player(s) playing under a single banner, has a website, and is able to support their player(s) financially. So yes, if you decided you wanted to start a team and you got your friends together in that team, you'd be eligible! Is everyone who is eligible to play going to be accepted? No.

1) Will the open qualifications always be in California?
2) Will the offline finals always be in California?
Florida is so close (weather) yet so far away

Open Tournament is ONLINE. LAN finals is in Los Angeles, we have no idea where it will be multiple seasons from now

I have a question regarding the online open qualifiers for the 16th spot in the 16 man tourney.
Would the people in the division play, who failed to secure a spot in the 16 man tournament, be allowed to participate in the open tournament?
Technically, since it is an open tournament, all people who have not qualified should have a chance to take part on the tournament. However, allowing the lower ranked division players (35 of them) take part in them pretty much ensures that someone among them will go ahead and secure the win and take the final spot.
In short, will the open tournament end up being a spot which new and upcoming people (not in NASL yet) to have a chance in getting to top 16? Or, is it a second chance of the remaining 35 people who did not make it to the 16 man tournament?
We're still discussing whether we should allow players in the league who didn't qualify to play in the Open Tournament.

Updated the OP. The OP is the official NASL thread, so you can say that what's in here is our official stance. Thanks !

Watched a european stream today where it was mentioned that NASL might not be that interesting.. Same thing would be said if NASL was EUSL. Just people wanting to talk down on something that is good. Unless of course EU is going to do something similar, but the time is drawing near where they would have to announce something if they were or people will already be invested in other tournaments like NASL MLG IEM ESL DreamHack GSL. Which is already pretty big competition, so I don't think there is another tournament popping up. I agree. The player in question would get a spot in NASL but the player mentioned that some secret stuff is brewing, so might skip NASL.

Not showing the matches live is a huge mistake. I'm never gonna get hyped for watching a replay of a match that was played days ago. With such a large prize pool I expected something better than HDH ... is it really impossible to set a live stream?? No way I'm gonna pay to watch some replays and this is not the way to promote eSports!

The casters will be in the game with the players casting as they play it, and that will be recorded and broadcasted.

If you cant understand the reason behind that way of making thing, I am sure no one can help you.
Game will be casted live, recorded and then broadcasted 1 day later.
You will no watch a replay if I can say, you will see a recording of the game Live. I know the difference is subtile but it make all the difference (no sync problem, non-authenticity in caster excitement) and it give 2 edges:
1) no cheat (their is no way of knowing if a player would be looking at the stream while they play) 2) players themself can tune in and watch the game they played.

I concur. It's just not the same. I realize that streaming live matches will be difficult to establish due to timezone differences and perhaps lag. Still, I would much prefer watching live matches over replays =/.
Edit: Just read the post above mine. That makes sense, so disregard my post HEHEH.

1. either way its not live...whether its live casted from a replay or live casted live, then broadcasted 2. delay the stream, since they are working with justin.tv should be no problem 3. the players can watch their replay if they want to see the game they played

Look, if you record something and then broadcast it later, its not live.
We can stop saying its live now. A recording of anything shown later IS NOT LIVE. You can record something live all your want, but do we call movies, tv shows, or anything of that sort live? NO! They were filmed live obviously, but they were broadcast at later dates.

TSL Open's = not live TSL1-2 = Not live (not sure about 3 but, probably!)
With stream cheating and us wanting to do production for the shows and cut the idle shit between matches you should know everything live SAVE FOR the actual broadcast = great
Also santa doesn't exist.
