Her knowledge of the game is very lackluster and if you want somone to commentate for english speakers then that commentator should at least be able to speak english properly. For those people saying she deserves a trial, all I have to say is does she really? She has been hired to cast previous lans such as SMM(for the dota fans out there), and of course Moonglade vs Loner. She hasn't improved and his been consistently hard to listen to and ruined the enjoyment of those events. I understand that no one will be as good as tastosis was, but at least get a competant caster to pair with Torch.(who is a very good caster). If you expect people to pay for a season ticket or wake up in the middle of the night to watch these games then you should get Casters who can speak fluent english and understand the game. Thats all there is to it. If kelly is casting I'm just going to go to sc2rep.com, turn on the Korean cast of a specific game I want to watch and mute the casters and play some music. There is no incentive for me to watch gsl live or pay for a ticket if there aren't going to be any good casters.

However, watching the same casts makes it painfully clear that she's not the optimal person for this job. While she is very passionate about what she does, and quite knowledgeable about the game, her voice is simply not something that I would like to listen to while watching code A. I would in fact say that the enjoyment I would get out of watching Code A (which btw seems to be awesome this month, the GSTL really showed the potential of a lot of these players) might be lowered by having her there. However, I wouldn't like GOM to fire her right off the bat if they had indeed decided on hiring her. Give her a season, see how it goes (feedback will be terrible at first ofc, question is if it improves as the season goes on). tl;dr give Kelly a season to cast, if she doesn't improve in that month, replace her. Cause frankly speaking, having the kellymilkies of today shoutcast code a for the rest of the year would be a terrible decision.

I come home from work, stream me some Starcraft to relax, and the LAST thing I want is to have to use a translator to decipher this girls unintelligible engrish. I'm not sexist or rascist. I just want to enjoy my Starcraft!! Is that so much to ask? =(

No offence to Kellymilkies but her accent is really not nice to listen to. Being a commentator isn't just about your knowledge, it's about your voice as well and her voice doesn't suit it at all(imo). With respect, Peanut is worse then Kelly, any caster that goes 'ummm' at the beginning of every single sentence while casting isn't particularly good.

I wanted to listen to her casting and judge her on the same merits I'd judge Tastosis, so I skulked around youtube a bit yesterday listening to her work. I think her understanding of the game as a viewer is decent, but she has a harder time explaining why the subtleties of the game are so critical. In several of her casts she took too much time to explain the self-explanatory, and too little explaining the ways players are trying to push ahead outside of just direct conflict. I want her to cast a season, and I don't even care if we call it "affirmative action." The truth is, I want more women in e-sports. Most women entering a bastion of male nerdiness are driven to show the guys that they're able to hang, and I want her to succeed. I agree with statements here that say her invitation should only be extended on the basis of her merits. Asking the internet to tone down the cynicism a bit is certainly a stretch, but please, do try for one season of GSL and maybe we'll have something good come of this!

It is a very typical Singaporean-English accent (Singlish is the common terminology). It has nothing to do with Australians, except for the fact we get loads of Singaporean students in Australia and I guess to some extent we're acclimatised to their accent.

I'd really like to lengthen out the reasons why to improve the quality of this post, but it's so painstakingly obvious that I feel it'd be redundant.

If that is not the dumbest statement I have ever read on TL, then I dont know what is. Hey, next, how about Collusus shoot pink lasers? SCVs wear skirts in solidarity? Lets have two Queens inject each other, and then have a cigarette? Bitch, please....... User was temp banned for this post.

Oh I know that's why I wasn't like "STOP WITH THIS SHIT!!!!!" and lol'd instead. GOM made the correct move here for sure. One cool thing would be if Jason Lee has spent the last months upping his SCII knowledge to cast. That guy can make ANYTHING interesting. One can hope

This, basically. For GOM it was either do some damage control or potentially lose a lot of customers. It's still an announcement about an announcement(yo dawg, I heard you like announcements, etc.) but it's nice that they're doing something.
