I'm sure we're all familiar with the iCCup maps by prodiG and the group, what I want to know is when will we see a League where we can see these maps in real competitive action? These maps are great, and in most ways superior to the official BNET ladder maps...
Does iCCup have a league on BNET that uses these maps that I'm unaware of? The search function has given me nothing but soot.
I don't think I'm alone in this either... It'd be really really cool to see these maps catch on into a competitive scene, and to be honest I can't wait til the day that Blizz starts holding Map Making Competitions where they select the winners to be official Ladder maps. (If that ever happens...)

They have iCCup KOTH and other matches all the time on their stream, but it would be so much better if they had official tournaments with top players on iCCup maps more often.

That's kind of what I'm getting at, like an official iCCup League for SC2 that happens regularily.

Kinda on the same note, i've tried to play iCCup maps in custom games but i don't really have anyone on my friends list so i have to just wait for games. Which can take hours. Is there a channel or a site to hook up with like skilled players wanting to play on iCCup maps. The other problem is for some reason it seems like only diamond and masters play on anything other than ladder maps. I'm plat, and although i don't mind getting owned while learning a new map i feel like perhaps it would be more effective if i could find players equal skill.

Its just that I feel the ICCUP maps are not that much better than the bnet maps either, so I dont play them and I certainly would not like to see a high stake tournament on them as they are, at least in my opinion, just plain imbalanced in every possible way... not even talking match up balance here but pure unit balance. And why the heck are those maps so damn dark anyways? They are just poorly made imo.

The problem behind your feelings in my opinion is the fact that a lot of the more popular iccup maps are remakes of the popular or good bw maps. Unfortunately the problem is that these maps were not designed with the changes that occured with sc2 in mind when they converted them to sc2. Thats the problem imo is some of the maps don't really work well with the units. Some of them have too many cliffs and the collossus does too well on them as do reapers. Units like siege tanks dont take too much advantage of anything at all since siege tanks also existed in sc1.

Yes thats exactly what I wanted to say, thank you very much And some of the not-ex-bw-maps are just way too dark, you cant even see on what ground you are, without having a unit right there.

Right about that. I've played SC2 a bit on the converted Iccup BW maps. Fighting Spirit is pretty awesomely balanced, but Python is a disaster in SC2. With SC2's AI, zerg gets a huge concave very easily and can melt just about anything in a wide open Python-like map.
