But given the format of this tournament (8 players/team), Liquid does not have enough players in Korea to compete. There's Jinro, Huk, Haypro, and Ret....unless I'm missing someone.

prime vs im finals GSTL has the chance of having more foreign teams in the GSTL due to the 4 invitees into code S. HuK or another TL + qualifiers of TL could make them go up to 6th/7th place or at the least 8th. So GOM is basically by having that 4invitee list making sure there are some foreign players representing their teams (if multiple from same team then the better) in the rankings that is close to top8 so we should be able to see foreign teams in the GSTL soon after few seasons or maybe next season.
Dont know if you're right. Let's assume TL is able to get enough "points" how will they be able to meet the following requirement: "Format: Each team selects 8 players"
TL only has Jinro, ret, Haypro, Huk down in Korea, right? Still 4 people missing. So as long as there is no joint effort between the foreign teams (if it is allowed) I dont see how we might see foreigners participating in that team league any time soon.

Why does you lose faith in GOM when it is decided randomly. Your losing faith in chance

The GSL foreigner invites are Code A participants according to John's 1st post in the thread. Has Gom announced when the next GSTL would be after this first one in February? So much can change with each month's up/down and qualifiers that it's almost pointless to try and project.

How does the GSTL work as far as premium tickets are concerned? Is it separate for only four days of action, is it free, or is it somehow paired with either GSL4 or GSL5 ticket?
This may not be the place to ask and I may be better off asking at the GOM forums but if anyone knows I would appreciate it.

I don't understand why Gom would require 8 players. I wonder if it's a mistranslation or just miscommunication. If the final, the longest round, is essentially a BO9, then at most a team would only need 5 players. You can only lose 5 times (4 in the early rounds) then why the extra players?
Maybe they want 8 to ensure a team has back ups and will always have a full roster ready?
I imagine it'd be an important thing for Gom to explain, because it wouldn't be unreasonable for a team like Liquid (if they qualified) to fly out their 5th team member if they only need 5.

I'd like to see liquid play for ogs a couple games since they don't have enough point wise to compete, maybe we'll see that. Also is this team league similar to those bw matches that are listed in tournaments as for example [swl] khan vs fox. I seen some and they look like teams but i'm not sure if its something else entirely.

Whats the point of having 8 players in a team when its practically best of 7? Only 4 players get to play. I mean, a team can just always let the best 4 players of their team play while the rest just sits and watch.... unless its 4 players in 1 round and other 4 another next round no matter what?

Well, f.ex if you know you'll be playing OZ you're going to want to try play your best vZ versus Jaedong even though he's not top 4 in the team.

Yea but the arrangement is set in a roster order according to the rules? Its not like you can change your lineup just to counter them.

I wonder if TL will field some Korean players for them to be in this.

pretty amped for this non the less, not often you get to see sc2 teams battle it out.

GOM page is up, you can purchase premium tickets now for $5. Note that this will only run for 4 days so it's significantly less games then GSL. Still a great value IMO -- I insta-purchased the ticket.

$5 isn't a whole lot of money to pay for, despite how it pales in comparison with the GSL ticket's value.

Woo, for 5$ I'm definitely getting it. Kinda like a little bonus season, I like it.

because they should have seeded the teams based on individual players' results AND code s+code a point accumulation.
they decided to do it randomly which is completely retarded and then some given the play format they chose (i.e.where a team having 2 players like mvp+nestea and 6 random players from the streets is possibly stronger and has more of a shot at the title than a team with 8 solid but not genius players)
what we got here essentially is what putting federer vs. nadal in the ro64 of a tennis grand slam tourney would bring about for the fans/organisers/broadcasters.
why the fuck would i, or most anyone without a ton of time to spare, want to watch this further than the ogs vs. im match when you got one of zenex/slayers guaranteed to go through and one of ogs/im guaranteed to drop out
at least it's cheap so you can watch vods for eventual upsets / surprises
(edit: they can do random once they get it off the ground and stir up some interest, they could've called this 'inaugural' blah-blah and seeded in accordance to the reality of the individual players' current skill levels for an epic league starter, god damn, use some marketing brain power ffs)

In fact SlayerS beat IM and oGs, and ZeNEX crushed oGs and IM, with Puzzle all-killing them both.

Nice point you have made there. We shouldn't underestimate the seemingly weaker teams, they could have very good players too, but are just underrated at the moment because of their lack of showings in tournaments like the GSL.

Yeah... They are ranked by points. oGs is 1st IM is 8th... IM only has 2 S class players and 2 A class players. It's the most fair way to do it, so stop complaining.

why is it bracket style and not a league
