I use search and the only post I found is in way back in beta phase. But if there is another post about this please just close this.
I believe there are many old school player prefer bw sound effect, myself especially miss the stim pack sound. So this is teach you how to replace the sound in sc2 to bw sound.
I dont believe this count as modify the game client, but do it at your own risk. I take no responsibility if your game crash or account got ban. (however this will only modify local files, so it's very unlikely)
+ Show Spoiler + Video Demonstration of all the changed soundorigional chinese postIf you dont know where to download, click here (this link will be dead after 20-30 days, see if people will post mirror) after download just replace the file under the folder \versions\base16939\ I myself have test it and it work, but according to the original poster, after each patch. this file need to update as well. we will see if thewisp will keep updating.

anyway to replace sc2 music with sc1 music? (aside from just playing it in the background)

Wow thats awesome, I was just thinking the other day how much better BW sound is than SC2.
I can remember basically every BW unit voice and I haven't played it in over 5 years. The SC2 voices are just so bland and uninteresting.
Thanks for posting this.

And thanx, OP, bw sounds are perfect and are better for gameplay I think (I recognize them better than sc2 sounds)

waow i actually forgot how the unit was sounding in BW and indeed it's so much better, i think i'm just going to replace the marine dying sound, you can really feel the pain out of their voices and i'm looking forward to hear it when by banelings hit their but

I'm not impressed, I think the BW sounds are all really badly mastered (unit production sounds way louder than fighting sounds) and fairly annoying too (like selecting the mutalisk or the ultralisk) + i prefer how the hydralisk sounds now, actually shooting spikes instead of spitting on its enemies.

i was actually thinking about this yesterday in a 2v2.. i want a more stand-outish "your ally is under attack" otherwise I tend to not hear that one :\

Thanks for posting this. You've played BW how long and you've played sc2 how long? Think about that.

Some units sound far better in SC2 such as the ultralisk, but others sound much worse like the archon. The overall quality of SC2 audio, however, is obviously superior.
Unfortunately, the SC2 music is not good compared to SC1 music. SC1 music is just so good and I don't think it's all due to nostalgia.
I also think the zerg announcer is very lackluster compared to SC1. I hope new installments allow you to choose between a male/female/character as an announcer. I'd love kerrigan to tell me that my drones are under attack or to have a masculine zerg announcer. i'm sure toss/terran players might have similar wishes (jim raynor/tassadar announcers would be wicked).

One thing that I really hate of BW is the music when selecting some buildings, like the Terran Academy.
Thanks, but I prefer to stick with the SC2 sounds...

I want to replace some of the sounds, not all of them. Is it possible?

rrrreeeeAAAAAAAAgggghhhhhh!!
If I could change one thing I'd replace the weird zerg lady with the old overmind.

Thanks, but I prefer to stick with the SC2 sounds... Agreed. WTF was up with the random screaming? There are a few sounds I prefer from BW (the current zergling attack sounds like wet noodles), but for the most part I'm happy with the SC2 sounds. Thanks for the links though, I may change my lings back.

Wow it wasn't until I watched that video that I realized how much I miss the old Hydra sounds. Those sounds are what helped to make the Zerg scary IMO, and in SC2 they're as quiet as mice. I'm still split on zergling and muta sounds, as I love the changes they made but the old unit sounds for them get me all nostalgic. The old ling and muta sounds are scarier than in SC2 as well, but just not of today's quality in recording and that bugs me. I'm really missing the overmind, can't stand the stupid queen advisor sounds for SC2.
Noises I dont miss, are building selection sounds from BW. Oh man could they be annoying. Especially zerg hatches/lairs/hives. Ugh.
As far as the music goes, I could care less, I have that on mute so I can play itunes while I get my SC2 on anyway. That habit comes from way back in the day when having game music on in Diablo2 or huge army games in BW meant lag on bnet. XD
Good work, OP, I think this is a cool experiment.

1) What about overmind. In SC1 we didnt had a lot replies for announcer. Same for Protoss and Terran announcers. But I've created Overmind voice, that are more like Overmind from SC2 campaign (briefing before 4th protoss mission)
2) What about replacing only part of zerg music? Some of their tracks are great and looks like music (not ambient sounds)
3) Yes, it will corrupt EULA about replacing files. But we don't have any advatange in multiplayer, there are no cheating, no hacking. Only sound replacing.

Hearing DT's and not mistaking it for zealots would be helpful.

If you open the patch file with an mpq editor and remove the sounds that you don't want, then it should be possible but it is also just hypothetical.

Is it possible? Yes, possible.
Sc2Archives are too archives, like RARs. You can open them with MPQ Editor and edit/delete/replace
