Well, I just hope this patch isn't going live as is. Phoenix and Fungal changes are awful. Phoenixes make mutas quite useless. Corruptors can't attack ground, harass, or anything, and 3 phoenixes take out a shitload of mutas already. If there was one unit that didn't need any buffs it's the phoenix.

Holy god phoenix come out so quickly now, I have no idea how zerg will deal. They're actually effective vs terran somewhat now too

The infestor change is unfortunate, particularly with Protoss air getting buffed. Also, this concerns me:

• Fixed an issue where Larva could produce units by holding down hotkeys.

I hope I don't understand what this means. If this means they figured out a way to ignore auto-repeat, I will be unhappy with the inevitable repetitive stress injury I'll develop due to lategame 30+ larva macro.

I don't understand.

Fungal growth was the only reasonable way to deal with mass air without yourself massing air.

I put a post in the PTR forums about the restrictions in chat channels. - http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/1207991941#1

I just made a private chat channel with a friend to test out the chat channel.

First I'd like to thank Blizzard for finally implementing chat channels, but I'm going to go crazy with the cooldown limit on how fast you can type. I can barely hold a normal conversation without having to wait for eternity after each message before I can type again or else I receive a "The number of messages that can be sent to this channel is limited. Please wait to send another message."

Basically we tested it out and there's a 3 message limit per 20 seconds per user. I understand this is to prevent spam but Blizzard should loosen this limit on private channels please? We like to talk and talk and talk like in Brood War channels but this restriction is way too tight.

spores are a static defense. stalkers are an army.

subtle difference maybe youll understand one day

Maybe you'll understand, one day, that static defense works against mutas or phoenix trying to fly around forever avoiding hydras since you can simply leave your base, attack and force the mutas or phoenixes to help.

Anyway, the fungal change is really the only disappointing change. I was hoping the chat channels would be bigger as well, but overall, it's cool.

Wow. This patch is bad for Zerg, but especially midgame ZvZ... It now essentially means the first guy to mutas wins. There is no proper counter for Z against massed mutas...especially without a spire. Corruptors are too expensive, and even they have problems when mutas come en masse.

Most other changes look okay, but does the vray flux vanes change mean their speed is unupgradeable now? They don't start faster?

There are a bunch of new subtle features that weren't in the patch notes.

Replay time bar can be toggled off now. Also, fully customizable hotkeys. The replay selection screen is also a bit different, and you can click a button to go straight to your replay folder. It's pretty awesome.

Chat channels are also pretty cool. But the message you get when trying to join one when you're already in another one is kind of annoying. Hopefully they allow us to disable that and just make it automatically close the one we were in before.

Why in god's name would they do that to fungal... there's adding or subtracting some range or damage here and there, and then there's fundamentally changing a unit's function and by extension the entire goddamn race. This isn't a 'balance', it's a total friggin retool (or a de-tool, more specifically).

Absurd. Honestly, absurd. Can't get behind that decision at all. As if ZvZ wasn't queer enough already, only looks like it's going to get worse now, and that's before you even start to consider this simultaneous change:

-- Phoenix
Build time decreased from 45 to 35.

I know it was difficult for protoss to deal with mutalisks before but... really? :/

i don't get the scv repair nerfs i dunno if thor repair rushes were too strong cuz i never did those but scv repair is so essential to terran surviving anything in this game :/.

As P, a Thor marine all in with scvs is nearly unstoppable unless you scout it and you have awesome micro. Now, simply a-moving with a decent unit comp can end it, which is awesome given the amount of times I have been thor rushed recently

And with these void ray and phoenix buffs I might actually have to start making stargates now and not just colossi in PvP. >.>

Soft countered by writing longer sentences.

Now you can 3 gate expand and get hallucination before making any tech changes and get phoenix out in time. This is an awesome patch for protoss. Fungal growth is not really that useful against phoenix actually. If you go mutas and then infestors to stop phoenix, your ground army is going to be pathetic, and most probably get stomp. Corruptors are different though, once you mix in a few corruptors into your muta army, you can prevent kiting from phoenixes.

If you want MC against Julyzerg play, corruptors absolutely stop air atk from protoss and also prevent teching to collosus. Zerg can quickly transition to hydras which will reap through any units toss has. You must however keep those corruptors alive to stop any collosus. I absolutely love this patch, i dont have to risk a FE and can go for the safer 3 gate expand now.

I think zergs got too comfortable having 1 ground unit be able to basically defend against 1000+ minerals and gas of air units. It's silly. If the toss or terran goes air, then you just cant have your overlords spread out all over the damn map. its a bonus of going air, and the fact is you have to protect yourself against it just like toss and terran have to protect against mutas.

Great patch. I hope it all gets through.
That's what she said

The second that infestor change goes through I'm done playing zerg, that might be the worst idea I've ever seen them come up with. I can't even put into words how absolutely ass-backwards and fucked up that is.
