Looks to me like this patch makes carriers a more viable alternative to Void Rays.
I'd rather be zerg rushing

So... when you lose all your depots the first thing you build is rax? To be supply blocked? If Protoss loses all their pylons, they can't build a gateway either. Not that it matters at all.

from all the QQing in here it seems like i'm one of the very very few P who doesn't use VR.
good games = warp prisms
boring games = void rays


this patch is a step in the right direction

I couldn't disagree more. Voidrays were way to powerful. I could never punish my protoss opponents for playing like retards. guy had 2 gates and a stargate and had about 5 voidrays after he fail pushed me. He made an expansion and i had 4 raxes. Guess who couldn't even kill 4 units? me.
tbh i like to live in a game where i can punish my opponents for making bad decisions. Like expanding vs a 4 rax. 5 units should not beable to decimate my army in less then 5 seconds when its fully charged. Also another reason for this change is to make protoss use carriers more. Voids aren't useless they are just going to have be played with differently. I wish i could gather a few of my replays but i didn't save these ones to show you. But voidrays were a universal unit. GOOD at deffending and GOOD at attacking and HARASSING. But i think this is going to prompt carrier usage more lategame which imo is a good thing.

The tools existed in the game for you to utterly decimate that guy but you just didn't use them. They would not have even required any more speed. If you just played smarter and made good decisions, it would have been an easy win like you say.

So its a complete necessity to have vikings to pursue any sort of push vs voids? I did have options available how ever i felt an expansion would have been a mistake. I just wiped out all of his gate units. and was on 3 raxes at that time with stim and combat shield. Teching would take awhile and given my opponent ample time to produce a large amount of gateways giving the expansion. My option was to take advantage of the fact his expansion had just finished and that he just lost his gate units and was only on 3 production facilities. Do you understand my logic now? I can understand your point of view. But are my options really limited to teching-expanding? and god forbid i played someone good who would abuse the charge and constantly harass me with pylon charge up while i did this.
Also. I suppose i underestimated a unit that is excellent at harass is also more then excellent at defense.

-Barracks requirement changed from Command Center to Supply Depot.
Reaper
-Nitro Packs speed upgrade now has a Factory Requirement.

Hopefully expansions will just remove Reapers from the game so they can stop warping Terran's tech tree to accommodate a poorly designed unit >__>

VRs were already rarely seen on the pro scene. Then again I remember Blue saying they wanted to nerf team cheese... I should've guessed they would've targeted the silver leagues.

VR are now so cost ineffective it's not even funny. The only reason I see to touch the stargate branch now is for luls when you got 3k minerals banked and wanna make a mothership.

I feel that protoss is getting the brunt of the nerf stick with each of these patches and I dont understand why. First zealots we can make 21% less off a normal gateway count, now voidrays and the thor/corrupter change is even a nerf to toss. with the lack of use for feedback. So are collosi armys are weaker vs zerg as we cant kill corrupters with feedback.

idk maybe im bitter but toss seems to be getting pushed into the ground well zerg really goes unchanged just sorta riding the wave.

We've already dealt with Reapers. They've already been nerfed, and the community seems to have figured out how to deal with them weeks ago. Ha. Tons of PvT nerfs... no PvZ nerfs? Lots of ZvP buffs, though. Maybe we will see a carrier now someday.

Also, I don't feel great about the death of the legendary BBS.

Do you think before you post? Phoenixes are amazing and were already very frequently used without getting any VRs.
