Except that DT's sound like a B movie patriot.
BW sounds have less quality in terms of digital sound processing but they were designed very well. BW sounds were pieces of art, SC2 sounds are, well, sounds that try to be cool.
More seriously, how can you even think that? You barely notice crap dying in sc2, the one interesting animation is zerg units burning but thats not even in the korean version. If hydras/lings died you saw massing of blood+awesome sounds. Zealots had aweomse sound+visual effect. dragoon death sound was so great. It was this whiny high pitched sound that make you think: "YEAH FUCK YOU BITCH!" Mech death animations in BW were the worst and ALL the sc2 animations are like that. Quiet, small amount of "rubble" and overall boring. Oh banelings have an awesome animation when roasting marines. Thats so awesome. + A cool sound. Sound effects are so important.
im not talking about sound effect, im talking about the animations, and yes they are not only more cool, they are individual from what kind of "death" they had (IE getting roasted, slashed, "baneblown" ect)
also: don't say my opinion is wrong, just because you disagree
Cool vid, but still, there is just something about the way the dragoon died. Maybe the dead dragoons would just stay on the battle field longer -- I don't know. But, you would just see the remain of the protoss army and think "That was a massacre"
high models death animations have the potential to become classic, especially the fire-based deaths imo. but I will always have a special place in my heart for blue goo
lol at all this blue goo love. I truly did enjoy it, but I thought I was the only one.
Also, I didn't expect to write a page on how blue goo is the Starcraft equivalent of a jizz-tastic nut bust, and then have a bunch of people respond, "Fuck yeah, I miss it too!"
All we have now are burning corpses or acid-coated bodies that flail but then disappear. Blizzard really missed the ball on key unit deaths, i.e. the immortal.

I think it had a lot more to do with siege tanks than it did the animations.
definitely miss the goo and the beeping =( also miss how the workers would blow up upon death in sc1 ( even the drones blew up), now they just kinda fall apart instead of exploding which makes storm drops and other harrass way less entertaining to watch.

I really hope blizzard one day changes all the absurdly loud and non-sensible explosion death sounds. like if you kill a probe they make this loud explosion, sounds horrible. i miss the old meow death sounds, you should be hearing more of the unit's screams like in bw not all of these same-sounding (litearlly the same sound is used in so many different units deaths) explosions.
This right here.
I still enjoy killing terran units, but killing a marauder or medivac just isn't the same as killing a medic or science vessel. *sigh* I could kill those units all day long.
There was something magical about the blue goo. The tension of the highly position based match up of TvP. One misstep and your army is goo in an instant. And its a violent and noisy death. And then you hear the tanks unsiege and roll out, and you know its over. Loved it to death.

Hehe, toss players were retreating their goons just by the sound of tanks sieging. Same thing with SC1 DT sound. You couldn't miss it for the world, and It was scary thing hearing that "sweep" when you have no detection, you know you are done ... SC2 DT "sweep" sound is... meh...
On the other hand, I kind of like the DT "death" SC2 sound...
One thing I'd like to point out is the awesomeness of the marine death animation in SC2 when a zealot and/or DT kills them. They can either be sliced in half right down the middle, or across the waist. It really is a epic animation as the marine growns and dies in a bloody mess as his upper torso or right side of his body (whichever the case may be) slowly slides off. Or the reaper animation when they shoot into the air and explode. Epic. There are many more but my point is that SC2 animations really are pretty cool, and maybe just need to grow on you a bit? Seeing as SC1 blue goo had 10 years of awesomeness to take it's full effect
