Alright actually I just tested it. It definitely speeds it up (although I didn't check by how much). How much more effective is method 2 than method 1?

PS: It's not as easy as it looks ;;

PPS: Do you guys make a worker then send your workers to the minerals or vice versa?

This is pretty legit. Great find OP. Something to do now in the beginning instead of just mindless spamming.

Great find man

does having your worker selected and just mashing "C" work as well?

edit: it doesn't seem like it works, nvm

definitely seems like using the shift methods is slightly faster though, although in the grand scheme of things, 30-60 extra minerals doesn't seem like it's that significant of a lead

Now I have to do work in the first few minutes. Amazing find though

Edit: Actually, the real fml moment would be if Blizz patched this.

they patched this when they made the game

Nice find! I tested it and it does seem to work, very intriguing. I'll definitely be doing this from now on. I'm personally not a fan of arbitrary dexterity tests though, they add complexity but very rarely depth.

I've never seen this before since I've never ran into a situation where I've had to queue so many commands, but as you queue more and more commands, the green 'pointer' thingy over the mineral patch gets thicker and thicker, it's a nice visual representation of how near the end of the command queue a worker is, and which worker's command queue you should be extending first.

ha, tho as much, but dosnt work at all ....

so... babysitting 2 workers for 1 minute for 7 mineral gain, oooh awesome, i see the potential, definitely... potential for smallest screwup doing more damage than perfect execution will net

Or not really because it's a minimal gain which you can EASILY screw up and make it not worth anything, we will see.

Hahahaha, I noticed this a little while ago, but was too apathetic to bother with optimizing my early game. Thanks, now that everyone is doing it I have to start doing it, too. Ass. Worst first post evar.

*Edit*

So, what're we going to call this? Sock Running/Mining? Folding?

High level pros can execute this kind of stuff perfectly every time and with ease, especially since they'll have nothing else to worry about and their opponent can't really harass that early anyway.

This is sick. My drones are on crack.
We shall call it the "sockfolder mining trick".

Getting that rack/gate/pool out 15 seconds earlier than usual means a lot in early game! Imagine doing early reaper and the toss havent is still trying to get his stalker out... 15s is enough for 4 kills!

Yeah, cheese builds will be much more effective if you do it.. That's quite scary, actually.

Very nice find, I was wondering about this for some time after I figured out that using patrol is better than queueing up normal moves, thx!

This is absurd, and it must be a bug. Guarantee it to be fixed, otherwise the entire early game of every matchup, especially mirror matches, will simply revolve around who can do this bullshit better and faster.

An APM sink, nothing more. A mindless task to dump your APM into. I'm OK with some dumps, but this one is EXTREME.

Yeah actually this makes me a very sad panda because SC2 is sort of known to help players that aren't as mechanical and a bit more skill oriented (a different kind of skill). Not having 300 apm is going to hurt me here.
