The best thing about it is you would need absolutely ludicrous apm to keep this up on several bases while microing an army. So it forces players to decide how to divide their attention, and raises the mechanical skill cap. Easy to play, hard to master was what Blizzard was going for in this game, right? Well, here's a perfect example--literally no skill is required to mine at baseline effectiveness, but if you've got the apm for it, you can exceed that effectiveness.

 Altough I have the feeling that this will be in a future patch: "worker AI has been optimized so they return their minerals faster" And then I will cry ;_;

As the OP said, once bases are nearer to saturated this trick does not work. The only benefit would be to use the trick on mules in the late game. In fact, in the case of very saturated bases he stated that it would reduce income. So no, later in the game this trick will only raise the cap by a small amount(still a good thing though)

It's obviously not intended to be like this, but hey, the NP infestor trick is still around, right?

Remeber fazing? ![]() I don't think so actually... that will change the dynamics/balance of the game. Increasing the mineral income for all races would almost certainly have unforeseen effects. If they do fix this, they will just make the worker pause mandatory, as in not give you any way to remove the pause.

 There is about a 200% chance of that happening roughly. Remeber fazing? Fazing was broken though. A group of Void Rays with sufficient clickspeed could vaporize an unlimited number of marines in seconds. Micro tricks are cool and all, but not when they wreck game balance. A 7% bump if efficiency is big, but its not the ridiculously huge bump in efficiency that fazing gave Void Rays.

 And quite unlike the fazing, the advantage is there but not THAT much exploitable, and Blizzard knows full well that these little tricks are what the community wants, so I actually do have a good feeling that they will leave it in. It doesn't hurt the lower players, but it separates the good from the bad, it's quite a perfect find tbh.
