Really interesting show, was awesome how no one started yelling at each other and calling each names, it seemed super productive. Gotta say JP 2013 season of sotg is fucking awesome!!!!

I really like the idea of corrupters having splash, actually. Maybe retooling corruption to make the corruptor's attack aoe on the effected unit? Something like that combined with a reduction in voidray hp would probably do wonders for pvz without making the voidray a paperweight or devolving pvp back to colossi wars. Either way, they need a nerf.

The widow mine priority seems good. I wonder if it's even intentional that it's the way it is now.

The only thing in the episode I struggled to get my head around was theognis' objection to the mothership core. It's only a soft deflection for any attack after early/midgame and I never find that I can get much scouting done with it.

Yeah awesome show. +1 to corruption disabling unit abilities, though if it worked on High Templar or ghosts that would probably have a too significant effect in matchups. Send a corrupter to disable infestors, ravens, or Mothership Core before a battle could be super good. Probably wouldn't have spire, but imagine a protoss recalling his army out of a tight situation and corruption traps him there! Imba? It seems like it would be fine for Voidrays, BCs, & Queens.

Thoughts?

I think Void Rays are actually fine assuming Corrupters get some sort of buff that doesn't make them shred vikings.

It allows the protoss to play super greedy early on which will propel them into a significant upgrade advantage later on. It's not that big of a deal if the protoss plays a standard/safe style like in WOL though.

Corrupter change that could fix many of the issues discussed in ep 78

What would you say to changing the corruption ability on corrupters to some kind of AOE air only debuff, that cancels activated abilities when in the cloud, or simply something that debuffs some part of the units armor/range/damage/speed.

This could pause abilities like void ray charge and medivac boost for short periods of time, Making it an active ability increases skill cap and adds more interesting positional elements to both large engagements and drops.

I'm a casual, shitty gold player that stumbled on your podcast and now listen to it every week. Usually on my IPad as I'm falling to sleep. Nothing lulls me into unconsciousness more sweetly than the sweet sweet reverb of JP's voice making love to that microphone.

I'm a little confused as why the viability of mech wasn't discussed more. I think throughout the show everyone agreed that mech really didn't work in any of the match ups at the moment

I don't think there was much to add really.
In TvT it's difficult due to medivac and in TvZ due to vipers.
Against protoss it never survived removal of the warhound.

And it's not a problem unique to terran.
A lot of HotS changes are hard-countering compositions and strategies that existed in WoL while offering few new options.
We better hope Blizzard starts patching things or the game will end up with only one 'right' way of playing each match-up.

These balance talks aren't really about what you or I can or can't do, more about what pro can or can't do.

blinding cloud already disable quite a lot of things on the ground, if Z now gets an option to disable flying stuff, it would be ridiculous.

The Void Ray is just a very flawed unit in terms on design. There's no fanbase (unlike other units like carriers) and the only reason why people didn't protest for having it replaced by a actually cool unit is because the unit was shitty in WoL and nobody cared about it. Now that the unit is overpowered there's the dislike that should help give Blizzard the tip that this unit is not only very poorly designed, but people also hate it. So please put it back to uselessness like in WoL and replace it by any unit that is actually fun to use.
