I don't know what it is but NASL just doesn't have that something something for me. It has good production, pretty good casters, best players (outside of korea) etc but for some reason im not super excited about it. I think it's because there's so many games (and the games don't mean that much in the beginning atleast) and there's a show every day... too much content and the fact that the games have been played X weeks ago kinda ruins it.

I am going to watch the finals though for sure.

About nasl, I'm not sure it's the oversaturation. I mean, we have GSL 5 days a week (well, 4 days now, but it was 7 days at one point), and I'd never miss a GSL if I'm in front of my computer while it's broadcasted, whil sometimes even if the nasl is live, I won't even open the stream.
I think it's a mix of not live and all games not that important. 2 weeks old games can also lead to outdated strategies. When I watch GSL I know that I'll see what modern starcraft is about. And I want to know which player is in form now and not a month ago like someone said rightly.

Check man, we are most likely the two french watching GSL at 7 am.

The GSL having a better group of players and live games allows for the oversaturation. They're in different scenarios because they have people in booths and live events every day possible.

plus GSL people get knocked out every day

in NASL theres always a few matchs where its "who this player has already clinched his finals spot" or "well this player cant get in the playoffs to get a finals spot" and its like "well why am i watching it then?

@Idra you are a player in someone else's tournament, playing to win money provided by someone else. Respect their rules and respect their employees or go play somewhere else. Tournaments and Sponsors are going to make it that simple.

You can bitch and whine all day long about it, but you are not in charge.

Unbelievable that anyone would be so selfish and egotistical. I hope that players like Idra and Naniwa test a major tournament on being rude and get banned and lose any change at a prize. They need to made an example of.

Players dont make money regardless if they cant focus on actually playing the game.

Tournaments should do their best to help players put on a good show. However, there is a very simple solution for players who bitch about their tournament not being a perfect experience: don't play in tournaments.

Unless your conditions at the tournament are different than the conditions set for other players, you have no advantage or disadvantage in your game. Everyone is experiencing the same thing.

You don't see pro football players bitching and whining "waaa it's too cold in the stadium turn up the heat because I might get hurt waaa". No, they play the game because BOTH sides are experiencing the same conditions.

Umm, traditional sports except basketball/volleyball etc have almost always been built around having weather being an element into play since their creation.

Yes, and waiting patiently 5 minutes before a game starts and not spamming casters and being a bitch can also be built into the culture of Starcraft 2. It's not that hard. Really, it isn't. Waiting for a game to start does not cause you physical pain, it does not "punish" you. If it throws players off their game so much, then maybe players should "train" and "practice" the art of waiting 5 minutes. Unbelievable how people are defending these egomaniacs.

And egomaniacs applies to the few players who actually can't handle tournament conditions and have the balls to whine about it. Most players are humble competitors who know that they are guests in a professional competition and are playing for money.

you havent sat in the booth and been in there shoes so dont try to pretend youve walked a mile in them

No, I don't have to be in a booth to know that I would never be a bitch to other human being because of my own emotional shortcomings. Again making excuses for a handful of immature, emotionally unstable players that happen to be talented. There are plenty of other players that are talented that don't act that way. It's like saying Football wouldn't exist without the few bitchy cancer players that plague the league. Yes it would.

I've played sports all my life, and I've been frustrated lots of times. Sometimes games get delayed, sometimes you lose even though you shouldn't. I don't go verbally assault someone or a ref because I'm pissed off though. Some players can't control themselves, but they get carded or penalized or ejected, sometimes banned permanently from the sport and they deserved it. Can't be professional or humble, GTFO of the tournament.

I feel like the answer to increasing the respect given to players to the level that athletes of other sports receives isn't through bashing or taking away from casters.

Let's compare some sports

In football, if you watch through one particular channel for it, say ESPN, you will often see the same lineup of casters, casting all teams, just like SC2, right?

Except, the reason the teams and players stay much much more of the focus even with the casters having so much face time, is because there's simply more exposure to the casters and there is just more of the actual sport going on. There's always a higlight reel going on, or some other game that can be switched to, since each game is hours long. You could honestly compare the amount of face time given to SC2 casters to commentators for other sports like Football (american football is what I am referencing). But those sports have MUCH MUCH more content of the actual competitors right now.

This will be remedied more as the sport of SC2 grows, as there are larger events, more events that are respected, and more prestigious events, as well as more players playing at a top level. This is also facilitated by the idea of perhaps SC2 getting onto TV someday for example. For SC2 to be on TV, we would need MUCH actual game content, not less caster content. I absolutely LOVE Artosis, Tasteless, Day9, Husk, and the nice list of other casters ranging from TotalBiscuit to CatzPajamas, but I am also so terribly sad at the searching I must do sometimes to find games from Idra, Incontrol, Sheth, Boxer, MC, etc.

The current setup with casters right now is amazing, they're all pretty much doing they're job as great as can be done at this stage in SC2's timeline. What the competitive scene is lacking is flat out MORE GAMES. This can be achieved many ways, all of which feed off each other: More sponsors facilitating events and leagues, more players playing at a top level, more events doing everything they can to make their first place prize MEAN something more than just dollars. Hell, even the social side of players possibly letting their stories be put out there will bridge the gap.

Don't blame the casters for perhaps this "drama" that might be arising about the differences between them and their treatment and players. It's not really the fault of either so much as a sad consequence of the sport being very much still in it's infancy.

tnx for all positive feedback i will try my best to use the time well here and improve

after these 3 months (or however long it actually will be) i might just go back to korea very shortly after once again.
korea is a long term plan for me and i dont see this as just "being in korea a while to gain some skill"

the reason they told me why i get the code a invite (if i remember correctly) is because of all my achievements during my sc2 time.
last time i was in korea for world championship they said they would gladly invite me to code a then too if i would have stayed
im one who really hate people getting invites out of being foreigner or have fans but they gave me the invite because of my achievements in sc2 so far

i wont go in to why i race pick since i told the community a million times but yes. all tournaments i know, this day, allows my race picking. i will always tvz zvt zvp, there wont be certain players or rounds or tournaments where i just randomly pick another matchup to throw my opponents off. also if im up vs a random player ill gladly pick zerg since only 33% zvz and even if it is zvz i have much more experience than the random player in this matchup lol. so stop with the theoretical bullshit please

theres no specific thing about me going 10 days before nasl to korea. i expected to be in korea alot sooner but finding a team and preparing everything was extremely much work for me t.t
so then team said, nasl is close, either wait after nasl then go to korea or go asap. and i wanted to just go asap because the last 2-3 weeks i was just rolling my thumbs waiting eagerly to go

about nshs mouz "partnership". there is none, i just become friends with the team, and with contacts i got myself to this team, mouz took no part in it. (they did help with other things ofcourse tho im just saying there is no partnership, nshs is just being friendly).

and the thing about 2 racepickers meeting each other. you are talking about a scenario that doesnt exist atm. nobody else but me is doing this, comon now. i talked to many progamers during my sc2 time who wanted to change races, but didnt have the balls or the motivation to give up their skill to start over. its not like theres suddenly gonna appear more race pickers now just because gsl allows this IMO
they could just make a simple flip-a-coin rule if 2 race pickers meet each other of who play zvt and who play tvz, i dont see the problem at all lol
