Isn't that actually a valid concern? To my knowledge they don't really participate in online cups/smaller tournaments (at least I've never noticed them on any of the TL tournament roundups) and they've yet to win any major tournament. I'd guess iNcontroL and maybe Tyler have won some money due to their placement in MLG but MLG has always been one of, if not the best tournament when it comes to paying out prize money.
Not saying they can't provide insight but they might not have the personal experience of dealing with tournament organizers over unpaid prizes. Maybe someone they know do.

for SC2, I've won money from TL, MLG, gosucoaching (same guy behind NASL), husky, SCI (totalbiscuit's tournament). they've all been prompt. some of them were immediate. i've just heard stories from other people about slow money or no money.
if we talk about it, i'm sure we'll talk about it in general. like how bad is it, what should the standard be, what we can do about it, etc

Why is the next State of the Game on a Wednesday?

Probably because they were busy on a Tuesday? Radical idea, I know.

You used to have to wait tell Wednesday every State of the game when it was a podcast as it wasn't uploaded tell midnight or later on Tuesday. I know that really isn't relevant to anything you were asking. Though It doesn't matter when it's out

i think you should go one step further and invite people who are involved in this issue such as a player, a team manager, a tournament organizer (csn_JohnClark looked pretty open and talkative) and a sponsor.
it's pretty much a 'plague' since the beginning of esports and such a round could be very productive and...yea...help make esports even better

mmmm that's not the format/purpose of our show. not saying it's impossible, it's all up to jp, but it would be different. at most we invite one person to interview. we dont invite a bunch and have them do group therapy on our show :D

Grow and mustache and draw out your Texan accent, we shall call you Dr.Nony. It would be a hit with stay at home moms and the elderly, a demographic TL has not taken advantage of IMO.

It would be nice if you could get at least one person to represent tour-organizers, perhaps someone like carmac from ESL (one of the most criticized organisations)

i thinks thats more something for live on three, isnt it?
obviously, i would appreciate any talk about it on sotg anyway

aw, feared it wouldn't suit the shows format. although i still think sotg would be the ideal platform and i also think viewers are interested in what's going on behind the stage. so, if i had to pick one out of my suggestions it would be a tournament organizer, since he's pretty much the link between players and sponsors.
and on the bright side...one less potential protoss on the show

I keep getting an error on mlg.tv when I try going into the State of the Game VoD section. Anyone else having this problem? :/

Because MLG Global Invitational EU Championships are on Tuesday.

Tyler, with Blizzard providing some sort of unclear deal for licensing on tournaments over $5k, do you think this issue is partially their responsibility too? If they position themselves the way they have done with SC2 surely they should have some role in this besides just taking a cut. Before the worst scenario happens of simply a scam which had no intentions of covering prizes.

I'd rather just hear them talk a lot about the game. I wanna hear about recent tournaments, emerging strategies, pro player transfers/deals/results etc.
I want to listen to them discuss the game and it's players/teams much more than I want to hear them talk about the framework around the entire thing, even if it's very relevant.

And you all have a good insight inn how it works.

I don't think it would be wise for SotG to allow players to call out specific tournaments/sponsor/organizer for not paying. Its bad from a PR standpoint and is something that should be handled behind closed doors. There is no way the hosts can be sure their information is 100% correct and calling out an enity for breach of contract or deceptive business practices opens them up to a bunch of stuff they want no part of.
Talking about it in general or past groups that no longer exist is total cool, but no one should expect SotG to talk about any event or group that is currently holding SC2 tournaments.
