Yeah they were joking, and it was fun at first, but they've done it for such a long time now that the comical value is rapidly diminishing and you get a feeling of bitterness.

So yes you take everything possible that worked. Considering the current balance and gameplay they should be taking more note of BW infact because it's still far more entertaining. That doesn't mean copying either, you can innovate things while retaining the basic ideas that worked and made it spectator friendly. For example the fact battles are short, packed into a small space and have little interesting micro; doesn't meant they should necessarily re-add old units but how about some actual new ideas which are good but follow the same concepts? Positional based units like lurker, vultures with spider mines can be re-imagined, and less of units like roach/thor etc. shit no potential a-move units. Reaver is out but how about some new harassment unit for P that is a viable option, doesn't need a random element but a skill element would be probably a good idea. Without some additions like that i foresee a bleak future for the spectator side of things, because there's only so long you are going to keep a casual viewer entertained by people macroing a particular unit composition and attacking. Or sure, you could just ignore all logic and pretend BW offers no insight into making a good spectator eSport. You say i go on a rant yet you delve into game balance while i was quoting and commenting on the fact that just because some people enjoy the way BW is broadcasted doesn't mean the majority will. My post had NOTHING to do with balance or comparisons of gameplay, that's something you made up. I was saying that just because something works when broadcasting BW doesn't mean that a majority of people enjoy it on SC2. The public for SC2 is nothing like the general public of BW and the money is much more spread out over the world compared to how BW worked.

I mean there was Kas's performance in TSL 3 for example. We had many Americans there saying stuff like: "who's this random euro guy?" and many Europeans saying "you're just ignorant of the euro scene, he's been doing well for a long time".

Yeah I know it goes further back, but in last weeks episode at least it was entirely unwarranted. When people were complaining, Mr Bitter posted a list of EU players that are doing really good and deserve a mention, but the thing was I could remember them all being mentioned on SOTG before. Plus, not knowing about Kas before TSL3 is not ignorance of the Euro scene, it just means they don't have time or don't want to watch and check the results of the dozens of EU online cups. I mean, I didn't know who the fuck he was. It's not a crime to not know who someone is when they had made no prior appearances in large tournaments.

To paint a picture what its like, imagine if someone from say...Iceland, said that some unknown basketball player, Olafur Svensson could beat LeBron James in a 1on1 basketball match. Americans would laugh their asses off, and even harder when Olafur gets stomped. That is how it is to listen to SoTG sometimes, and i wouldnt have it any other way

Eu is jealous of NA for not being able to produce shows like SotG etc(language barrier within EU) and NA, and Incontrol and Tyler in particular, is jealous of the quality of players EU has produced through a much more competitive scene. Yeah they were joking, and it was fun at first, but they've done it for such a long time now that the comical value is rapidly diminishing and you get a feeling of bitterness. those guys have been joking about eu since way before starcraft 2, when truth be told NA had stronger players in the last 2 or so years of broodwar :p
