Just learn to loose. A very easy way to learn losing is to appreciate the so called "surrender" button. "Surrender" is a strong word and your ego might have problems with that - Just think of it as a "skip"-button. You don't surrender, you skip a game!
Your phone rings -> skip the game You feel like you have to go to the bathroom -> skip the game You don't like your opening -> skip the game You opponent starts flaming or annoys you in any way -> skip the game You won the game but your opponent turtles or hides buildings -> skip the game
once you fucked up your stats that way, you'll actually don't mind losing on the ladder. nobody gives a shit about your stats anyway.

Stop fearing loss.
The only way to do this is to lose a lot of games.
Actually, losses always help me learn more than wins. Lose a bunch of games and watch the replays.

I always look at this thread n read wht every1 says b4 i go play 1v1. I think every1's words here r the best ways to get motivated to get playin them.
Reading just one sentence from one of u guys is like a pat in the bak to keep me going.

Objectively I know that massing games, keeping an open mind and watching the replays of my losses is the path to success, but it never seems to work out that way. While emotions keep me from being constructive about my losses, lack of motivation to play SC2 in the first place is a bigger problem.
The weird thing is, I didn't have this problem in wc3. Sitting in my clan channel searching for games and chatting with my friends about my games or their games after we finish is a pretty chill environment; I could pretty much mass 1v1 all day, whether it was BNet ladder or a custom 1v1 with a clanmate. Having no chat or clan functionality in SC2 just makes me feel alone, which gives me less motivation to try to get better than others. Sure I have friends on IRC and MSN that I chat with about sc2 sometimes, but we're barely ever gathered in one place chatting and playing with eachother. This is an annoying problem and it's the reason why so many SC2 players watch streams/replays and read forums ten times more than they actually play. Chat channels may not be the only reason we often hesitate to click the "Play Game" button, but it's certainly a contributing factor.

If you have massive anxiety over playing a fckn online game, i can't imagine what it must be like for you to talk to a girl, let alone a hot one lol

I just want something like 8:1 in 1v1 , reached 1st in my platinum and now I am dont want to spoil it, why I am not being promoted I feel like every loss will set me farther away from Diamond and win doesn`t guarantee anything ;(
edit:WooHooo I am a friggin Guardin ^^

I think its just normal to be scared. My suggestion is to put those guest pass into good use and practice by logging into a guest account. Not practice your game strategy but rather getting use to the 1 vs 1 face off.

The hardest is to just play the first game usually. After your first game, especially if you lose, it makes it much easier for you to continue playing. And try to ignore your own stats if you can.

Being first in your division is meaningless for being promoted. In fact, the people that will eventually be at the top of their division will never be promoted. They'll be ~50% win record (in other words, be where they're supposed to be) and just accumulating points through mass games. Don't worry, you can be promoted from 100th place in a division (theoretically, practically it'd have to be a really unique division for that to happen) or from 1st, it doesn't matter.
Just play. The rest will take care of itself.

Yeah I know that, its just I have been playing mainly against Diamonf now so its that 50% win record I am trying to achieve/preserve, dunno.

What I found helped was putting on some tunes that help you feel relaxed, for me that was some techno/trance tracks but anything that suits you really, it makes a huge difference and everything seems to go smoother.
Of course you want to keep game sound on to warn of attacks/other game events.

I had this same problem before. What I would keep in mind is, that Blizzard's matchmaking system works really well. You'll be playing evenly matched players and don't have to worry about getting crushed too hard. It's nothing like SC1 where everybody makes fake accounts and crushes your hopes and dreams anytime you want to try to get better.

I really agree with this.
I've also felt this way before when I was actually in beta. I was worried that I was going to be stuck in copper forever. After playing numerous matches, as well as watching a ton of replays, I ended up getting out of Copper and into Gold before beta ended.
When the game released, I played rather shitty during my placement matches and landed in Bronze. I was deathly afraid to play because I started to doubt that I was any good to begin with. I then started having the mentality that kyama was talking about, just basically not giving a fuck about what rank I was in and play my game. I rolled through Bronze players, like I thought I would, and spent only a night in Silver before getting bumped back into Gold. Now I'm playing low Plat players, exactly where I feel I should be.
I would have never gotten to that point if I hadn't just thrown caution to the wind, let my hair down, take off my top and whip it around... err.. well... you get what I'm trying to say.
Good luck. Have fun.

that statement makes me wonder if all the people in here who suggest he should lose a lot of games on purpose used this logic irl and went up to girl after girl and said "yo bitch wanna go out with me? don't worry about your ugly face, we'll put a paperbag on that np np" or "yo I'm freaking desperate, I need to get some pussy tonight girl, wanna come to my hotel room?" until they got rejected so many times that they didn't think it mattered anymore.

I was feeling the same as you so listen carefully to my advice because I made it into Diamond League.
It is VERY important that you decide before match what strategy you will employ.
Pick Protoss as race and do 4-gate all-in's. Its the most powerful all-in.
Grab some replays of good players like HuK and copy.
Practice it first against computer or custom games with n00bs or whatever until you feel you can do it blindfolded.
It's all I do and now I'm in Diamond.
( This is probably the story of many Protoss Diamond League players lol. )
