For example, if you move a spell from one unit to the other you would have to update the AI scirpts, possibly rebalance the single player campaign etc. So how much can they really change after the release without major rework on their part?
I work as a software developer and we would never have dared to made so major changes this close to a release date if it wasn't totally necessary. So what I wonder, how finished is SC2 really?
You'd be deluding yourself if you thought it was complete. Bnet is utter garbage atm and probably will be for the forseeable future; I honestly don't think bnet will be finished until at least the first expansion pack, but that's probably too optimistic so I imagine it will take them until the 2nd to get their shit sorted out.
As a side-note, I came to this thread expecting to hear epic news about July playing SC2. Needless to say I'm disappointed.

I like bnet's new setup. I personally think that Blizzard is stepping it up.

Not sure if this was discussed before - will the two expansions have fewer pre-rendered cinematics than Wings of Liberty?
If not, does that mean they started production of the cinematics for the expansions roughly at the same time as they started work on those for WoL? Would they really have enough time to generate the same amount of pre-rendered content for the expansions as can be found in WoL if they didn't start at the same time?
If WoL will have more cinematics than the expansions, doesn't that mean Blizzard made the decision to separate the campaigns a long, long time ago? Otherwise how would they have known to work on movies for the terran campaign and not for the others?
I recently remembered how much I love Blizz cinematics and I'd love for the expansions to be jammed packed with them. What do you think are the chances of that happenning?

I could see both expansions having about 15-20 minuets of cinematics because hell, thats all the sc2 dev team has left to work on. They already have WoL which is the core, all that's left is campaign and maybe 1-2 units/buildings per expansion.
|
The cinematics team is separate from the dev team. They create cinematics for all games, including Diablo3. Apparently it took them a year to make the marine cinematic for sc2, which means they probably won't have time to create stuff for the expansions unless they started way early. So your reasoning is just wrong.

Spoiler
This is a old video but you see what mean
+ Show Spoiler +There been some talk about Kerrigan redemption and human transform/cure well in this video Starcraft II blizzcon 07 at 4:24 you can see there doing Zerg campaign with a re-Zerged Kerrigan so my guess becoming human is not going to stick. This video been out for a while but you see what mean it kind answears that recent question.

really? How does Blizzard measure this? From the location of my IP?

i thought with the digital copy, you need to dl a patch on or after the release time to fully complete the installation.
so they simply will not allow anyone to dl the content until the time on their server has reached 10:00

I have some questions that i've not been able to find an answer to yet. I hope someone here would be kind and answer these if there is any offical information released about the subjects.
1) Will battle.net support clan/team creation at the release of Starcraft II?
2) Will the Starcraft II single player campaign offer a gameplay with all three races or only Terran?
3) Are there any plans to introduce a feature that allow the users to watch a replay together with other players?
Thanks in advance!

Hey in the new battle.net site, in the game guide, the zerg tech tree shows that infestation pit is no longer required to tech to hive.
z tech tree
Maybe the tech tree picture is outdated. Does anyone know if the zerg tech tree was in some phase of the beta like this?

Infestation pit was always needed to go hive. It's just an error on bnet site.

Saw you post this in strategy and was just going to post this here as well, i checked the other tech trees and they are completely correct, so I'm REALLY hoping this is a change and not a mistake. To me zerg feels like it is a little weaker in T2 vs Terran and teching to T3 takes so long you can not contain long enough most of the time, but if you do manage it you are all of a sudden a force to be reckoned with.
If they changed it like this i actually quite like it, because that means it gives zerg more of a chance to contain long enough to get ultra's / brood lords out.

My friend successfully overran me with lings most of the time when we played. I checked his build order and it turns out he's doing a 10 hatchery, 10 spawning pool build. It seriously made me lol, then I was ashamed.
|
Hmm if it was never this way then it might even be possible that its not an error but a change. I'm hoping for this change also. If zerg only quick techs to hive units this can still be countered via air units and other strats, so i dont see this as an overly unbalancing thing. They can also balance it easily with changing hive morphing time.
|
Wow I really hope they made that change to Zerg. Would give them SO many more builds and strategies.
