Another thing I thought you'd promised was chat rooms within Battle.net... That part made me Nope. No plans for specific chat rooms at this time. You'll be able to open up chats direct with your friends, and when we add clans and groups there'll be chats for your clans and groups, but no specific plans for chat rooms right now. Do you really want chat rooms? :r

But in a more serious sense, I know Blizzard people lurk these forums from time to time (CowGoMoo?) and I just hope you e-mail all these threads in a company-wide memo. I know the WoW devs are having a hard time working on two games right now, but you guys should really bring in some SC people <3! Haha, just kidding, not trying to bash--but really, we could use some support from you guys... Just remember something Blizzard, the FANS make eSports possible..... C'mon dude. Blizzard has to know, leaving two explanations. 1) The developers don't give a shit. 2) The people who pay the developers told the developers they don't have the option of giving a shit.

Battle.net's chat channels allowed for probably one of the best online experiences I've ever had in any game I've ever touched. The other 1% is the problem of people abusing bots to spam channels and ruin that online experience. I've been playing the game since 1998 like most other players. I can honestly say for a fact that if it wasn't for chat channels I would've stopped playing the game a year or so after I started. This was exactly my experience. I loved going in a private chat with friends, and they'd bring their own friends, and you'd just chat with everyone and see who is up for a game. Now it's like you have to specifically add every person by email to see if they ever want to play and I really don't want to add all these random people I barely know. Yes I use ventrilo with my close friends, but I equally don't want to invite every random person I play with in there.

And even when you get some interaction, by having friends on your friend list, the chat window is crap, peoples fullnames all over the place (while most people know people by nickname. Also Im sure that people who dont speak my native language cant even pronounce my name). Pretty much any failure is a downgrade from the old battle.net, and not just by a little, but by a lot. WoW has even more chat functions, battle.net 2.0 has only /whisper and /party...

It's like we're playing for some stat that tells us we're 'good,' but we don't know what it means. We don't know where we stand in the hidden ladder. We can't even form chat rooms to look for partners. Why bother getting better at the game when nobody cares?

Without chat, I would never have bought Frozen Throne, which means less $$$ for Blizzard.

Oh the good old days. Getting internet when it just went public. Connecting through a dial-up 56k modem through AOL. I remember AOL chat rooms were the most awesome things ever. When I first got exposed to SC and battle.net by a friend it was mind-blowing. "What is all this" "Battle.net. See all these id's on the right? It's like being in a giant chat room! You can play starcraft with all these people and talk to them about stuff. Ask them if anyone wants to 1v1 or look for a 2v2 partner, and a bunch of other stuff" "THATS FUCKING AWESOME" "I know right" Soon after all my friends were playing SC. We'd meet in our personal channel and we'd talk about random stuff like what we did today, school, movies, etc. The few of us could talk collectively like we were all in sitting next to each other and back in 1999 that was the most fucking awesome thing ever. Soon after I joined a clan. Joining the clan channel, seeing people from all over, talking about random stuff. Asking if anyone wants to play. Trivia bot when we were bored. I remember nights when we would talk about random stuff for hours, not even playing a game. We just sat in the channel and talked. It was so fun. Battle.net was revolutionary at the time. It combined a game and chat room together, and was a unique experience back then. I think it still is. /nostalgia I remember the good time , especialy when your mother came in the room after an hour or two to say you had to stop using rhe modem cause the phone bill would go terribly high.

this bnet 2.0 will hurt the community more than they think, unless they listen to us and implement chat channels and stuff thinking back even war3 bnet was better as far as i know, you had your achievements, a good matchmaking system and of course chat channels (not sure how it handled realm play)
