Fuck you Blizzard. I was planning on making this my first game from Blizzard i ever bought (pirated every single other game and couldn't be bothered with WoW) but after seeing this i won't pre-order and if BNet 2.0 still sux at release i won't buy it at all.
Ppl like you make me hate mankind. Greedy fat fucks.
YES WE FUCKING WANT CHAT CHANNELS. NO WE WON'T USE FACEBOOK TO CHAT. People like you make me hate mankind. Either spend your money and purchase the game. Or don't spend your money and don't play the game. Don't steal the game, then get mad at a company because they cater more to people who pay for the game. Half the reason they don't have LAN play is because of fucks like you stealing the game and ruining it for all of us paying customers. Clearly forcing you to log in to BNET2.0 is an attempt to reduce pirating. That being said, I of course completely hate the direction that BNET 2.0 is taking. Jesus christ... Allow cross server play at the very least, fix the friend system and add chatrooms. Then people will stop bitching so much. Don't derail this thread in a FRIGGIN' ANTI-PIRACY THREAD SRSLY!!!!!!!!!
Actually his point was very valid. People like the one he was responding to got us in this mess.

My 2cents,
Chat Channels: I don't care. As long as there is some sort of clan communication chat channel or some other specific purpose, fine, but public ones are a waste. Admittedly, I have on rare occasion gotten into a conversation with some people in a pub chat channel, but if I'm on my computer with sc/sc2 loaded, I'm interested in playing, not chatting with randoms. Also, spam generally takes them over.
Region lock: I in some ways I can understand blizzard's position, I mean historically speaking a lot of people don't play on "their" server for no apparent reason, but this is going to be extremely annoying to deal with in terms of competitive gaming/tournaments.
Just out of curiosity, what is up with the "semi-subscription" for brazil and russia? I've heard of this before, just wondering why.

The fans should just threaten to do the "Death by a Thousand Amazon One-Stars" like the Spore community did over the DRM issue. That certainly got a response out of EA quickly, and it would probably work against Blizzard as well. THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed! Hit them where they'll definitely feel it! I'll definitely do this.
Archer, put this into your OP!

No chat rooms. That's just great because I enjoy being LONELY on the fucking INTERNET.
edit: I just can't understand how such great new technology (the actual game, internet) comes with stupid old stuff like regionlock.

guys seriously
the "Death of a million amazon stars could work"
It worked with EA.

It really is a sad thing when an entire community of fans, who consider (considered) Blizzard to be one of the best games company's out there are all pretty much united in the notion that they are now a complete failing bunch of pathetic cunts.
Might have exaggerated but clearly there are so many aspects of the game, and especially the new Battle.net which people are resenting.

It´s mindblowing that they dont understand that the money is in the competitive scene. Do they really think SC1 was so succesful because of a good campaign? WTF? They wont allow people to play with opponents outside of their region? Thats incredible. No LAN? I dont get it. I preordered the game, but if they dont do something about this, I´m definitely gonna cancel it. They cant be serious. This must be some kind of joke, I dont belive that they could be this stupid. I´m diamond league player and I want to get raped by some korean to actually learn something. I dont need blizzard to make me feel all competitive in my little friendly league. Its like kindergarten...

I've kept telling myself that Blizzard knows what they are doing despite my better judgement, but that interview completely shatters any semblance of trust.
Reading between the lines they are basically going to charge extra for anything and everything (just like wow) instead of delivering a complete game.
The whole chat room issue is completely misunderstood, it is not about match making it is about being part of a crowd. When Joe the Newbie logs on for the first time he is all alone and will play a few games without saying anything but 'gg' (if he even knows what that means) and will get tired of it fast because you are basically all alone in that big world. The country channels were not ideal in BW, but they were certainly better than nothing.
|
The only problem with the thread is that people have (naturally) jumped on the terrible, terrible chat room one liner, instead of placing greater emphasis on the far more important(imo) issue that is the region lock.
Edit: Not to say chat rooms aren't important, but you could live with that one coming down the line, region lock is diametrically opposed to the growth of eSports, which is why the news about HDH Invitational on SC2 homepage is so hilarious.

what sucks the most about this is everyone in this thread will be buying the game anyway..even the ppl say they wont.
we are so wipped.. there just isnt any competition from any other company creating RTSs.
I might just go make my own open source RTS.. *how hard can it be* :D

Remove the divisions in leagues Add chat rooms Allow cross server play
B.net 2.0 fixed and pretty much perfect.
The reasoning behind the division thing is absurd. What I want is a good overview of how good I am, not a fake feeling of belonging somewhere. Have some weird division thingy for the lower non-competitive leagues, but for diamond leage it should be removed. Pretty much all players there are/will be competitive players.
The reasoning behind no chat rooms seems to be two things: 1. Everything else with b.net2 is so good it isn't needed; and 2. They don't understand that we actually want it. Problems: Facebook integration and instant messaging services are not even combined as good as normal chat channels. And it's funny, because we've been saying since the release of the beta that chat channels will be needed. It's the biggest issue! Chat channels make organising tournaments and clan wars MUCH easier. And that is an integral part of the competitive community.
The reasoning behind no cross server play seems to be "We don't want to you to experience terrible lag." Fine. Then let us choose on what server we want to play on. If it's too much lag on US, I'll gladly play on EU. No problem. But why not allow me to make the decision on what's playable and what's not? After all, I'm the player.
|
So the question is who is actually right? Is this guy right when he says no chat rooms, or are the blues on the beta forums right when they had said chat rooms will come after release?

No chat channels... According to a past interview they removed the feature due to spam. Ok I buy that for the broodwar USA-57 and the like, but they remove all private chat rooms due to the crappy public ones?
No cross-realm play... They removed the ability to switch realms due to lag, and complain about the technology not being there, but yet we've been one giant global community for over a decade. Oh but if you buy a second copy of the game its ok to play on other realms, because you know lag issues go away if you buy the game twice.
No local hosted content... This just seems like a move to get map devs to buy extra space to host more maps. because the best way to get people making content for your game, is to charge them for the privilege.
Please tell me there will be iCCup for SC2.

Well, Blizzard now has a new moto;
Do you really want Chat Rooms?
It sounds like one of those stupid pantomimes you would go to as a Kid...
Do you really want Chat Rooms?
Yeah!
I cant hear you!
YEAH!
I cant hear you!
YEAH!!!!!!
I cant hear you...

FUCK THIS!
I am not buying this game if this is what bnet 2.0 is going to be like. The gameplay is great, don't get me wrong, but I will not put up with this shit.

If you have a really bad internet connection, but you have a couple of friends there...
That functionality's not there. Our goal is to make sure that connectivity to the Battle.net servers is such that that's the experience that people want.
I love this one, did he even listen to the question or did he just supply the answer Blizzard has been sticking with since the beginning. Some people cannot have access to 100% stable connections or connections that can support more than one or two people playing, Blizzard is outright telling them 'we don't care because the Battle.net servers are aiming to be the experience people want'. The experience people want, actually Blizzard, is lag free play, and in many numerous cases true complete LAN is the only option. If their goal with BNET 2.0 is to reduce piracy then they would include LAN capability, not doing so is inviting the 'hacking' community to create LAN modification for SC2.

Alright although I thought everybody already knew everything he already said he did sum up everything that is completely fail about Starcraft 2 and that is B.Net .02. Forget the cucumber : BNet 2.0 comparison, just use Iccup: BNet 2.0.
