This huge influx of keys makes it seem like blizzard is moving into the stress-test phase of the beta. Wich means we're a little bit closer to release! I just hope the beta doesn't end may 17, because the only specific release date I've seen is june 28. Doesn't seem like a good idea to have such a huge gap between end of beta and release though.
|
I have e-mailed amazon in the UK to see if I can get any info on a similar offer for EU Beta. I will share the info with the community when I receive a reply.
|
I just got my key from amazon as well, but somehow it ended up in my emails spam folder, so I suggest you check there too.
|
"This beta will be available through May 17th"
What does this mean? You will be able to play the beta starting from May 17th OR you will be able to play it until May 17th???

Yeah, I have that open atm, cuz I'm pretty sure it's going into junk if it comes, so I've setup rules to make lots of noises if it comes.

Not sure... I already have a key, giving mine to my friend. I think they're saying it's till the 17th. Hope it's longer than that though...

no fucking way way that the beta will end in may..
there are fuckton of things that need to be improved!!!!

can i do this and get it shipped to china?
|
Blizzard did originally say in their start-of-beta Blizzcast that they were aiming for a 3 month beta, which would put the release date at sometime toward the end of May.
For what it's worth, Gamestop is predicting a release on June 1st.

For those interested this is the response from Amazon.co.uk in terms of an EU beta key with pre-orders.
Dear Customer Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk I am sorry for any confusion or misunderstanding caused in this regard. On looking into your enquiry, I understand that you want to know whether the Starcraft 2 Preorder promotion will be available in Amazon.co.uk. Amazon.co.uk Video Games product information pages are the authoritative resources for any current special offers available on video games products sold by Amazon.co.uk. If you have seen a special offer advertised on a video game product sold on another website, possibly even Amazon.com, but do not see the same offer listed on that particular product’s information page on Amazon.co.uk, it means that the special offer is not available when you order the product from Amazon.co.uk. We are always seeking ways to improve the customer experience of shopping on Amazon.co.uk, but we regret we cannot tell customers about any offers that may be available at a future time. Perhaps, I suggest you to check our website from time to time to see if this Promotional offer has been listed in our website. Please note that, if at all the Preorder offer becomes available. Unless the offer is listed in our website and you are eligible for the promotional offer, we do not have an option to send the Code to the customers. I hope you will understand our procedure in this regard. Thank you for your interest in Amazon.co.uk

Needless to say that Amazon.de (Germany) also has no beta keys for pre-orders and that at a cost of 59.95€ ROFL.

That .co.uk reply sounds pretty generic, hopefully the support team just isn't aware of the offer yet as it hasn't gone live.
|
Well... like 5:30am, and no key yet from them, so going to bed. Hope to see it sitting there when I wake up

US rules?
+ Show Spoiler +They don't want to take the time/pay the money to ship to other countries. Sorry guys!

So have we to conclude that 17th may the beta will be closed?

take a look at the game now. think about whether both bnet and sc2 are at a releasable quality yet.
may 17th definitely seems too close

Probably the keys that are given out now wont be legit come may 17 because if someone hasnt activated them by then surely they dont care or arent capable of doing so.
Why would they do such a thing? A million reasons but probably may 17 is a milestone in development and they see it fit to actually have, atleast, some sort of grasp on the number of keys activated.

blizzard don't like europe...-_-
(their main money source)

This lack of appreciation for the EU is pretty annoying. Too bad I can't boycott Blizzard because their games are too good (
Already not going to buy anymore Valve games after how they decided it would be okay to charge 30% more from the stupid euros thru Steam.

Nice,
I pre-ordered the game with my credit card rewards program... which I know is powered by amazon. He's hoping that I get a key =P.

beta ends may 17, then retail version will be out.

Got this responsde from Amazon in EU.
Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.co.uk Video Games product information pages are the authoritative resources for any current special offers available on video games products sold by Amazon.co.uk.
Having checked the details for "Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty", I have found that there are no beta phase game codes available for this game on Amazon.co.uk.
|
Guys, it means that they are only offering keys on preorders made up until May 17th.
|
Starcraft 2 beta came out on the 17th of Febuary...March 17th is exactly 3 months after the beta started and Blizzard has said the beta will probably go for 3-5 months.
It doesn't mean the beta is going to finish on March 17th.
|
It would really suck if they end beta on May 17th and make us wait again for the release. Bnet 2.0 just had a huge failure last night too.
|
Funny story ... I cancelled my preorder from amazon.com to take advantage of the beta key for preordering from gamestop.com. I ended up saving 10 dollars and getting another game for my preorder at gamestop.com so it was all good. Then i got a beta key from both of them, and it was awesome.
|
best buy i have ever made, not only did i get it on sale i also got 1 day shipping and i still cost be under $45 and now i also get a beta key, i don't think it can get much better then that. Ill be playing a ton now see you guys on there( if the server is working that is )

It's possible that Amazon is only giving you some promotional key, and that the trial ends may 17th. doesn't mean blizzard is ready to end beta worldwide. On the other hand, maybe it does. And that would be a good thing O_O

WTF is good about unfinished game being released ? -_-

you shouldn't order it from amazon Germany anyway. Save more than 20€ and just order it from amazon.co.uk. Diablo III is just 21 pounds there too.

May 17th would definitely fit as the release date was (I think) February 17th or was so close as to be practically indistinguishable.
What I'd say is most likely is that Amazon doesn't know any better than the rest of us but they're putting a lot of stock in that 3-5 month timetable that Blizzard committed to upon the beginning of the beta. The 'through' also could mean that it may (lolzpun) continue through May 17th, but at the very least will go until May 17th
My guess is that Blizzard really doesn't know when they're ending it. The giant 'sim the release' thing they've said on the beta news page would certainly seem to support the idea that they're going to end the beta somewhere around mid to late next month, but Blizzard is never very good with timetables, and it is completely unreasonable to say that the timetable is set in stone particularly because they are handing out all these keys to simulate a release. If something goes wrong in their simmed release, or something isn't right, or they still need more data, of course they'll put more time into the beta.
|
Grr, god damnit.. They still haven't send me a key >.> This sucks. Seems no one wants me to get into the beta.
|
Nah, i think most of their games still cost the same euros as dollars.
like a game is 60 dollars or 60 euros which is kind of stupid
|
Just got it!!! HELL YEAH!!!!
|

Oh man, you guys are torture, lol... Still key-less with a US Amazon order
|
Gotta love how blizzard literally does not have to do open beta for this game, they just force us to pre-order the beta in a figure of speaking. Lol <3
|
Pre-Ordered. Fingers crossed T_T
|
Wait so if i have mine preordered they will get me a beta key?

Yeah, but also consider shipping costs and consider that the price will most likely drop. But if they give me beta key for a preorder I will buy it even for the high price Another question would be what language(s) the DVD will contain? I know it's OT, but I want the english version anyway. The German synchro sucks imho. Broodwar was okay in German but War3 and Starcraft2 are a joke in German.

Any chance that's a result of taxes like VAT and such? Shipping costs sounds like a pretty implausible story.

i preordered sc2 collectors edition from amazon.com like a week ago, and yesterday i got a beta key from them!! so this is working even if you preordered before all this beta key abundance.
|
I doubt blizzard would release the beta end date to retailers and not users, its probably an estimation just like their release date of june 1st.
|
judt dont sign up or the trail of prime membership. I got charged 80$ for the trial when it ended.

I got a key as well. I had been playing on my bro's account previously. I noticed they stipulate that the beta ends May 17. Is this common knowledge and I just missed it somehow?
And yeah, I ordered mine more than a month ago.

No, they are guessing. Gamestop says the 31st, they are just throwing out random numbers.
|
Apparently you should receive your beta key within five days if you pre-order today. If you've pre-ordered the game several weeks / months ago you should refer to the Amazon customer service.
