short and simple. this is probably the most annoying thing ever when you're trying to micro a unit then want to hotkey it so you can go multitask, only to see your unit turn around and suicide.
Poll: Should they remove control + click issuing an attack move?YES (187) 76% NO (59) 24% 246 total votes Your vote: Should they remove control + click issuing an attack move? (Vote): YES (Vote): NO
Edit: oops, this shouldn't be in strategy, can a mod move this to the general sc2 forum please. thanks!

This is already in the official wishlist, you should have searched before posting, pretty sure this is going to get deleted.
oops, my bad. but I was kinda after a mass number of YES votes so to at least have some substantial backing that a good number of people want it changed. then I'll go complain to blizzard :D
Its getting ridiculously annoying right clicking my army to a specialist unit group :<
Sure they can remove it since I don't even use that hotkey, ever... but to be quite honest I also don't find it annoying, get it in to your muscle memory to release ctrl right after you grouped a unit and you will not have it attack-moving anywhere.
Pretty sure this has lost people entire games. It is annoying.

So when I micro I a-click to focus fire. I do this so if i misclick my target my units will still fire instead of moving towards the enemy and getting shot at
Unfortunately you can't hold the alt button down and attack move, it doesn't let you
you CAN however ctrl-click while holding the alt button. The unfortunate thing is when you ctrl click, even if you click a unit, it acts as though you attack moved the ground
Would be cool if the made it so it acts like a normal attack move command so I can hold alt to focus fire
this must be an SC2 thing, I can't even think how this could be a problem in BW

that's interesting. so there is a logical explanation for it then, it allows you to attack move (albeit a location only) while having health bars up.
although in your scenario it wouldn't help you either way, since your units would attack the same way regardless of if you had the health bars up or not since you can't click a unit. i don't run into this issue because i always have health bars up anyways, which is one way to totally avoid this problem. granted, it's an argument to say add in the ability to click a specific unit with control + click.
comparing that with the need to be able to hotkey a group while moving them, i still think the ability to set a group and move your units should take precedence, at high levels anyways. an example being i'm muta harassing, so obviously i'm non-stop right clicking. then my rallied mutas meet up with my existing control group, i need to add these mutas into the group (so i can go multitask and come back to ALL my mutas) while still microing my mutas to keep them alive, however this results in my mutas being issued an attack move command and turning around, even if ever so briefly, to be annihilated by whatever is chasing them down.
for me, at least, the cons outweigh the pros of having this UI mechanic.

You can use shift-# to hotkey units. Shift adds the units to your hotkey group. So if you have 5 mutas at the enemy base and then 3 pop out from your hatch you can box select the 3 units and then press shift-# and now that group will contain your original 5 mutas and the 3 more.
Though what most people do is shift box the new mutas and then control-#
Shift-# is pretty useful when hotkeying new production buildings though. Have Have 5 rax, you build a new one, select it and shift-#, This saves you from have to select the group, shift select the rax, and then control-# again. Saves like 1 keystroke

It shouldn't be removed. I don't have any problem with it and I like it. It should just be an option, of course!
Things like this really shouldn't be standard, but should be available. I was hoping that with Battle.net accounts being universal, they would allow people to keybind to their B.net accounts or something.
It's the kind of thing where you wonder, what are the advantages of the system Blizzard is using? Or is it all anti-piracy and DRM?
This is a silly thread. If you don't want your units to attack-move, then just right click without holding ctrl! It's a new game guys! You should be focusing on balance issues! If a plain right-click ever caused an attack-move command, then we would be having some serious problems...
ctrl is used for too many keyboard+keyboard commands that you need to be using the mouse for other things, having this as attack is too annoying
at the very least have it an option to be turned off
Voted no as I use it alot, even though I've been using a-move since 1998 it didn't really take very long to get used to this and it is way superior to a-moving.
Make it an option if people hate it so much, but don't completely remove it!
given the responses, i'll definitely put it forward to be optional.
tbh im surprised even 17% voted no... Who the hell needs 2 ways to do one thing which are both as quick as each other, and one causes very easy, game costing missclicks one in every five matches, :@
they shouldnt remove it but edit change it. Make it so that Mouseclick3 or some other nonused button(user able to set their own key) = attack go.
god its annoying having my vent key as ctrl, then watching my scouting scv decide to suicide into something
