not looking forward to this in australia... we get totally ripped off with video games... even with the conversion being $1 AUD = $0.9 USD our prices are ridiculous...
the usual price for computer games over here are $100 ($90 US), with console games being $110 ($100 US)
the big fancy version of MW2 was $200 ($180 US)
currently ebgames has SC2 standard version for $100 AU, but it wouldnt surprise me if that changed....
i love blizzard, but when i can import the game from playasia for ~2/3 the price for buying it in aus... it's hard to see how i can justify buying it on launch day...

As long as you buy a legit copy of the game I don't think blizzard cares how you get it.

Says the original Starcraft will be preloaded on the usb. Is that with the beta key or just the game but you still have to get a cd key?

I'll be there at midnight to pick up my SCII CE. In Canada, Diablo II and Warcraft III were $74.99 for the regular editions at launch, and expansions were $49.99 at launch, and I paid that without a second thought. Blizzard games are in their own tier of quality, looking down at the puny competition with their mediocre-by-comparison games.
I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't put a USB Battle.net Account Authenticator into the CE. I really want one but it's always sold out.

Standard edition going for $60 makes me cringe a bit, so I'm more than willing to pony up the extra $40 for an item that should hopefully sell for around that.
|
Mmmmmm collectors editions....
|
Oh man, putting a wow pet with this game is brilliant, gonna pull in so many more sales on the wow pet alone.
|
Additional information about StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, including the release date, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Thats all I'm concerned about by now. And of course I'll be getting me a collectors edition, durhur.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but Activision turned MW2 into a monetary black hole for anyone that wanted to play it on the PC. I feel a strong wind blowing in the direction that the SC2 expansions will not "be priced as such" and Activision is going to milk us for all we are worth.
Someone please tell me I'm wrong :\
If you think ActiVlizzard is concerned with something beside money I have a Thor familiar for WOW I can sell you.
They are firstmost a company.

I'd get it for the USB key only!

Preordered off Amazon as soon as I read the press release. Blizzard Collector's Editions are always kickass, and I haven't been waiting 12 years for this game to not buy the version of it that comes with more cool stuff.

NPD Data
Best-selling PC games for the week of June 30-July 6, 2002:
Rank / Title / Publisher / Average Price 1 / Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos / Vivendi Universal / $59
Considering 8 years of inflation, Starcraft II costs less than Warcraft III.

gamestop just called me about the collectors edition!

^^ I like the idea of customizeable decals and skins offered from Blizzard. I don't see it ruining the game unless I'm missing something?

Art books are usally 30-40 bucks on there own and this one is pretty big.
And you get a ton of other stuff o.0
The 60 dollar thing is cute, bout time PC games caught up - I've been paying 60 bucks for all my console games for a few years now big deal -.-.
With stuff like a movie tickets costing almost 20 bucks a pop I find it hard to complain about sc2 being 60 common people!
Its certainly worth it where in the US do you live paying $20 for a movie?!
I imagine California or New York, 3D IMAX, 20 bucks a ticket sounds about right.

All I want is a digital download of starcraft 2... screw going to the store!

If you buy a boxed copy, you can link your serial key to your Battle.net account and download it if you want. Buy if it's the same price, why not get the box AND the download version, instead of just the download version?

So you don't have to go to the store and wait in line with other nerds?
