A lot of people already know that the "Hero" system will be present in the Galaxy Editor. In addition, it would be the most powerful editor to date upon release.

Well of course I knew hero functions are present, just sharing the first look of them is all....
I'm just surprised that they decided to keep it exactly same as WC3. But I guess why fix something that works right?

Well, they did mention that the new one would be more customizable as in you can get more stats etc.

If the map editor is going to be as powerful as advertised you're going to be able to change the style however much you want, I wouldn't be surprised if the hardcore Warcraft fans created Warcraft 4 before the official game comes. There's custom UI's and everything imaginable.
Can't wait for some cool UMS maps to blow off some rage on after a losing streak haha.

It's interesting to note there's also a new PSI stat, how is that different from INT?
the little box on the bottom right has 18 slots i think. that is enough for an inventory and skills, attack, etc
I guess HoN > sc2 dota though
Ahh these HoN fanboys. Doesn't matter if i didn't play this game, HoN is better!
Lol :D No wonder most of them think that LoL is worse even though it's way more fast paced and PvP oriented
Nice find OP, good to see how this looks. I hope galaxy comes soon ;p
The reason HoN has such hardcore fanboys is because the game is facing such resistance especially from the DotA community. Also it's pretty logical that HoN is gonna be better than SC2 DotA since HoN has a team, will have been here for a longer time with more patches and so on. Doesn't mean it's impossible for SC2 DotA to surprise though.
When it comes to LoL you have to face the truth. The developers just doesn't care. LoL might be a fun game with friends, but without constant patches and balances fixes every week like HoN it can never get big in a E-sports perspective.

Hahaha I thought I just didn't know what that meant, I guess they haven't done those very indepth yet because they arent supposed to be accessible by the players.
I really like the idea of fake nuke by the way, you can really keep the opposing player annoyed if you have real and fake nukes and launch them at different places simultaneously and he has no other choice than to take a risk or stop mining altogether.
Zoler I believe mostly the popularity of DotA is thanks to new players constantly picking it up because it being part of a more popular game, those who bought WC3 were instantly shown what dota is when they accessed the custom games menu. For HoN there will probably not be a source of new players like this and with SC2 this effect could be redone.

You still have to buy SC2 and play on B.net, there is no LAN.
HoN got the most retarded business plan ever. They should had released the game last year just like LoL did. Now the game will completely drown in the shadow of SC 2 no matter how good it is.

When it comes to monthly patches LoL seems to be pretty consistent having patches at least every month. I can't comment of balance since I don't play that much but LoL seems to be faster paced with more focus on action since they took things out like denying and allow every character to warp back to base.

Ok so was this some kind of joke i don't understand or you just don't know anything about LoL? LoL is patched every one or two weeks (depending if changes on Test Realm were good enough i guess) and recently is getting new heroes very often...
In any case, some of those spells look pretty awesome, like the Ghost-hallucination that turns into a HUNTER SEEKER MISSILE. I will say, I like the colours and artistic style of the Warcraft 3 icons, and I hope some people make some colourful icons for SC2, although it'd take some extra effort to make it not stick out like a sore thumb. Still, based on the supposed power of the editor, I guess I'm not terribly worried that it won't happen
Hmmm it looks so cool, but i can't get it to work. Does it work only with KR client? When i replace only the patch file nothing happens and when i replace patch-enGB file with patch-koKR renamed to patch-enGB the game attempts patching after launch (and it never ends lol, infinite repeating).
There will never be a SC2 DotA. Instead, we are going to get Aeon of Strife II.
It's going to be interesting to see how these get utilised once the editor becomes available to people outside Blizzard. While I was never that much of an UMS fan, I am still excited to see what comes of this.
this thread reminded me of gosugamers and how bat shit insane everyone on that website got when some major dota player was in a HoN team. less fanboy rage please. it's retarded and i hate gosugamers for it. TL.net doesn't strike me as a fanboy hate breed place however. till this thread.

In the Blizzcon videos, one of the developers specifically said they developed a set of stuff for an inventory system specifically for this purpose (it won't be used for SC). So there will be some package or module already in the editor with inventory capability.

hes working for valve yes. but there is no information at all on what exactly hes doing there. i doubt hes making another dota (hon and lol are enough not to mention standard dota. lets fragment the community EVEN MORE YESSSS) i wish people would stop spreading this stupid rumour.
I've made some maps for the original SC (such as Cops and Robbers, if anyone has played it), so I'm very much looking forward to messing around with the SC2 editor and already have some ideas for maps that at least I think would be fun.
I looked through the data, it seems like the attributes can be edited currently and can have infinite amount of attributes. Also experience system can be adjusted so that you can gain exp from damage taken/damage done.
By Default Strength increase hp by 25 Increases hitpoints regen by 1
Psi increases amount of protoss shield of the unit by 25 Regeneration of the shield by 1
Agility makes attack speed faster by 1.1x

3 way is of course harder to balance but so much more fun in the long run if the creeps aren't terribad.
Holding out for SC:Ghost made in the editor :p
Yeah man, tell them! AoS is all about huge battles and powerful abilities and heroes. Dota is a lame knockoff, the only reason it got popular is the power of the WC3 editor in comparison to SC's.
I was Thinking about the SC2 editor, all of the power that the wc3 editor had but much more. This could bring about much deeper remakes to the more popular UMS games. Revamped MTG games with more units, spells, and overall stuff. Golems games with much greater versitility and balance. Better Dungeons and Dragons games, all that old good stuff would be amazing in the new editor.
Keep in mind that they're not using the complete Galaxy Editor at the moment, since alot of campaign units and features seem to be missing. There will probably be a few more features to tamper with once Wings of Liberty comes. It's a nice find though.

Hmm. But I've seen videos of people doing this in YouTube. There's a cute video of two hero zealots running around microing at each other with storm and yamato cannon and a stalker-summon ability all as hero level-up skills. I obviously don't know how they did it or what (if any) outside tools were used, but I do know it's possible at this stage in the beta.
Current state of Galaxy Editor regarding Hero data:
The Bad: - Experience of the Hero is not saved upon Hero's death, though the ability you have leveled is. - There is no function to give the Hero level or experience. Only workaround available is manually adding experience modification to effect and triggering it. Which is very tedious. - Default starting value of attributes are hard coded to 0. Even you change the value it will always start at 0. STR INT whatever attribute you add - There are a lot and a lot of missing features that were seen in wc3 world editor. - No scaling system. That means you have to individually add upgrades and abilities for each level.
I say Galaxy editor is around 80% Complete
What's good in Galaxy Editor? I've recreated a lot of abilities from DotA in the Galaxy Editor to test its limitations. It is pretty impressive. For example abilities like Ravage (Tidehhunter's Ulti) that was only possible through triggering can now be created through the data editor without any scripting/triggering. The data editor is definitely very powerful.
I'm really excited about what mappers will do with this editor. While I didn't like the hero/creeping system of WC3 in multiplayer I pretty much enjoyed killing time in single player campaigns. Also ums maps might become pretty interesting. Just a bunch of different games in a game... SC2 should be pretty much worth its money.
regarding the HoN vs LoL discussion, remember that: LoL is free-to-play and you need to buy HoN when it is released, maybe HoN is the better game(haven't tried it so can't tell) but the free factor is huge
and Sc2 DotA? i will much rarther see some of the stuff from Blizzcon that you can do with the map editor
