Reposting something I just wrote in the Day[9] Fan Club thread:

Good god, would he be perfect for a TED speech! He has the perfect mix of charm and commitment to the cause that would make him a hit, and more importantly would really help spread the idea of professional gaming on the massive global scale that we all fantasize about
I'm looking at ways to possibly get him on the list of speakers for an upcoming TED. Anybody have any ideas or comments on this?
What would his talk be? What's his cause? That people should watch/play StarCraft for entertainment instead of watching and playing other things? :o Maybe I'm misunderstanding the gist of TED from the handful of talks I've watched. But I certainly agree that he's a good speaker and could give a great 18 minute talk about whatever he wanted!

yeah i agree. looks more about moving product or some political/economic goal than, hey sc2 is a growing esport, come watch me...
i have watched a lot of ted talks, and while some are political/economic goals, others are also stories about how people took chances and are doing the things they love which they helped make big, or when people point out changes in the way certain things are seen. i am sure that sean would be able to hold a great ted talk about the uprising of esports, maybe about how esports in general

Yeah, I think you have a good point here, but then again, the E is TED does stand for entertainment, and one speaker did do a talk about how gamers are key to solving problems of the modern age, so I think there would be certainly room to manoeuvre on the particular title of any talk given by Sean.
He also would have to meet the entrance criteria, where you are asked, "what has been your contribution to the Human experience/society/etc".
All that being said, I would love to see Sean on the main stage at TED, or even at one of the TEDx conferences, it would be a seriously big deal to land that gig.
Haven't watched a daily since the low hundreds but I've watched Daily #100 three times now and I feel like watching it again. Such a brilliant story and I tear up every time he talks about playing his brother and the support he gets from his family. So great.

I tear up when he talks about losing his bunny in the hotel.

Perhaps helping remove some of the social stigma related to videogames in general? Give a first hand view of how video games can have a positiv impact on an individual and a family?
Blizzard should really do AD's on BNET 2.0 for DayNine daily's.
My Background
If you are new to the Starcraft Community it is very hard to find people who actually know what they are talking about. I came from a Competitive Warcraft 3 Background and It took me 4 months into Starcraft 2 to discover Teamliquid and 2 months after that to discover DayNine.
The Idea
What I'm suggesting blizzard should do is Advertise for DayNine. I can list off a million reasons but ill stick with a few
Reasons 1. Keeps people involved in Starcraft 2. Instead of getting owned after a few games and quitting.
2. Gives new comers a role model and someone to learn from. No one has ever watched a Day9 Daily and said "Wow i think I'm actually a worse player now."
3. Makes the game exciting and easier to understand. Everyone watches a Daily and then says "Oh gosh wow, i wanna try that!"
The Look
Person A. Dies to a 6 Pool, Says "F*ck this game" and never plays again. Person B. Dies to a 6 Pool, sees "learn to be a better Gamer - Day9 Dailys Click here" Person B goes on to win the GSL.
Conclusion I've seen a new banner for some random thing that i really don't care about. New custom maps, New top 200, Fruitdealer's fruit pictures. I don't think it would take blizzard that much effort to make a banner for Day9. Its in blizzards best interest to do this. It will only spread e-Sports. Not everyone knows who DayNine is, especially if they are new to Starcraft 2. But they should...

There have been a few interesting talks about gaming, one I clearly remember is (7:00 to 8:10 is the most interesting note I remember)
I reckon it would be prefect for day to have a talk about communities and how gaming skills can be used elsewhere in real life or something along those lines.
Congratz to you Day[9]. Thanks for all the daylies you gave us. Day[9] 100 is the most epic, the history of SC[BW] from your point of view, is just great, all of you who didn't see this yet, go and search for it on youtube, blip etc.
Day, I guess I`m speaking in the name of a lot of people when I say that we would like to see you applying for some tournaments, we want to see you play. I guess you are/was one of the most skilled NA players from the last 10 years. I`m sure that you are pretty amazing in also playing SC2. I don`t want to say that you should participate every day in 1 tournament, but you should apply for some of the bigest ones, for ex: MLG, Dreamhack, even TSL would have been great if you could atent (I hope you will be there as a co-caster at least). Please share us your games! We want you back Day!!!

Not a bad idea, my main motivation for watching HDH2(lol) was going to be watching Day play. Then again, Sean isn't on a team
