i facepalm so hard at the people saying that the past 2 days were "theory-crafting" yes explaining how to alter proven builds to deal with multiple different scenarios is theory-crafting \sarcasm.

Hi folks short time viewer first time poster :-)

I've watched quite a few (20 or so) of the dailies now and a question popped up. I just saw the episode in the late 140s huk vs hybrid(?) on scrap station where huk basically wrecks things with four little phoenix and the zerg is chasing his tail half the game trying to get them while they demolish his workers and overlords all over the place.

He says that static defense is disadvantageous because army units are a better monetary investment.

Here's the issue I'm having with the idea. The zerg player had to invest in overseers anyway which are considerably more expensive and he got multiples to cover his base. DayNine also says the larger the base the harder to defend the phoenix as well as if you go phoenix early you HAVE to do considerable damage just to come out even.

With all of these things in mind I strongly question why he didn't just get a couple spore colonies in the back of each mineral line. The intention is not to have a perfect defense for air. It's merely a small investment to make harassment less beneficial and make defending a three base zerg easier.

The zerg player lost almost 30 units by mid game so I don't understand how sacrificing a couple larvae to save at least 10 of the ones he lost wouldn't make sense? It would have all together prevented the DT rush and unless I'm missing something it would have basically eliminated the probe harass. The hydras could have easily covered the interior spaces like they already were.

By building static defenses against phoenix harass he would have had to invest ALOT of money: 9* drone + 9*spore crawler.
Also it wouldnt have prevented the drone harrassing because you can still fly into this mineral line, pickup 2 drones, fly back and only get shield damage which repairs pretty fast. so with building spore crawlers he would be even more behind

If a chat mod could skype day9 and tell him the following:

Ustream chat servers split, meaning a lot of people won't be able to connect. Also since I don't have direct contact with him via mirc -.- the streams lagging a bit.

There are some issues with lag on Ustream. The chat channel takes a long time to load, and Day9 is resetting to try to fix the issue, stay tuned.

Well, to be honest, there's going to be alot of problems with ustream and other various stream sites because of the CoD: BO reveal that's going on right now so...that may be the reason why ustream is having little hiccups.
