I, personally would be extremely interested in a deeper analysis of Zerg play, being Rank 1 as Zerg in my Platinum Division myself. For the first two weeks of release I only played random, and I managed high plat as random JUST with you checklist. No Buildorders except for what "felt" right, but constant SCV production, constant unit production and keeping money low. Anyway, naturally I will point at the replays I've uploaded and will be uploading on gamereplays.org: Replays here As mentioned before, I play Zerg on high, and T and P on low Plat level. (And I love Banelings/Burrow, fyi ;P ) i would really like to see more stuff on zerg play as well, it's a completely different style from protoss on terran the way their economies work and learning the intricacies of timing overlords and spawn larva along with getting the right upgrades at the right times its not as easy as constantly keeping a worker made one after the other and keeping all production buildings working since everything comes from larva and we are limited by what larva we have since we have to share it with all our units including overlords. and keeping our money low isnt as easy as "well i have some extra money might as well throw down another barracks" since things dont work that way.

Gold/plat stuff is very easy to identify; anyone can point out for you on a forum what your should improve on(pump workers, harvest all the time, time the buildings, etc). The difference between mid-diamond and top-diamond is subtler though, because the mistakes are usually hard to identify. this!!! I would love to see this

Especially some guidance on when to produce drones, when to produce army units. Like is there any tricks like the one with using 1 larva per spew to create a overlord not to get supply capped? Since I end up either overproducing drones and having what feels like nothing when my opponent is at the door, or not having my bases saturated with drones. EDIT: and of course huge props for spending so much time doing these things, for the rest of us to learn!

EDIT: and of course huge props for spending so much time doing these things, for the rest of us to learn! This is an issue I was dealing with at well late in the Beta and to be honest, I've resolved it purely with better scouting. To use an obvious example, if you scout an early 2-gateway and respond by pumping drones, you die -- it's obvious and everyone knows it. However, if you DON'T scout it and decide to mass drones in the dark, you'll be shocked when seven zealots show up and ruin your day. That concept can be applied at all times in a match. If you decide to power drones, make sure your opponent isn't about to attack. So hypothetically, again, in a ZvP, if you scout with your 10th drone and see a Cybercore going down, you know you can power drones. A few minutes later, when you scout with lings, even if they're walled off, you can usually see their army -- so if you see a handful of zealots and stalkers, again, you know you can tech and continue to drone/expand (you can even through down a few spine crawlers to be safe). Then, your Lair comes up, so morph in an Overseer and go take another look (and don't be surprised when your seer bumps into two VR's on the way over, haha). Now, for the rest of the game, your opponent can be scouted at will and you'll always know what to prepare for. I guess my point is that a Zerg player doesn't lose because they powered Drones at the wrong time, they lose because they didn't scout at the right time.

I'd like to third the request for zerg advice (or even a daily focused on Zerg for gold/silver players). I'm a new random player and while I get the idea of "always make workers" with Protoss and Terran, I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to apply the same concept to Zerg (as always making Drones will result in death).

I wasn't able to see the daily live, but the VOD cuts off for me as well, needs a re-upload or re-encode or something I think. It's a shame, because I feel honoured to have Day[9] analyse a replay of mine! I'll be taking everything on board. Anyone got a summary of what happens after my target-firing-tank blunder? After that match I asked for some advice and I generally go more chargelot heavy, maybe with a colossus or a few void rays to support it. I've also just been promoted to plat! whee! Thanks again Day[9] for the analysis! Awesome stuff as always. ![]()
