I'm interested to hear what my fellow TL'ers have planned for March 12.
Will you immediately hit the ladder and make a run for GM?
Dive right into the campaign and beat it on brutal in 1 day?
Please share your plans for the 12th, how you will obtain the game and what you will do for the first few days upon release.
Personally, I will probably play the campaign at a rate of 1 mission per ~2 days.
I'm really looking forward to hitting the ladder right away.
Depending on what league I am in after placement will dictate how much I ladder initially (a lower league placement will encourage me to play more (~10 games/day) compared to a mid-league placement (~2-3 games/day).
I pre-ordered from Amazon, depending on when it arrives (if it comes late), I will probably download a digital copy so I can get in on the action right away. I came to Wings of Liberty very late (December 2012), so I look forward to getting started on time for HOTS and competing on a level playing field (at least in theory  )

I alternate between Thatcher and Kuchinsky depending on my mood. If I am winning and feeling relatively satisfied with my level of play atm then I play as Kuchinsky but if I am sucking and on a losing streak I rock Thatcher because it makes me laugh seeing it on the Versus screen and it lightens my mood pre-game.

I agree. I prefer to play on Hard the first time.
Brutal can be silly and it is so easy to get caught off-guard, particularly early game.
I've lost quite a few missions on Brutal in the first 5 minutes from an early attack I was not ready for.

I will play the campaign, finish it at brutal (like I did with the WoL one) and then go to NA ladder to warm up, hit master there, go to EU ladder, Hit master there and then the real challenge, go Korean ladder and being owned by plat dudes!

Campaign, but on friday evening (3 days after original release)
playing it on hard/brutal str8 through, school would make that a bit complicated and less... enjoyable

I will go to a local game-store, within a ceremony and exactly 40 bucks in my pocket and together with my beste friend. I see us both buying a copy and then going back to my place, where our pcs are allready running. Then we are playing all night long a mixture between laddergames and campaign, looking to get the more achievements than the other one.

First a few campaign missions, then my five placement matches. Then mostly ladder until the weekend where I will complete the campaign in one long marathon setting.

Watch HOTS pre-launch event and be sat waiting for servers to come up with energy drinks pre-fuelled with amazing yoghurt+bananas combo :D
Destroy the campaign on some difficulty above normal (but not brutal, that shit's annoying in the way that a gold player can beat it with a guide and enough time, but its borderline impossible to do for the first time even as a masters player without restarting each mission like 5-10 times simply because of doing something wrong - for example on Supernova - oops, i should have built like 3 more banshees really early on, or oops, i wasnt supposed to lose that much of my ground army, i clearly need it at >this< stage as well, it was not meant to be sacrificial)
After that, take Masters league and get a solid footing in every matchup. I did not play beta yet aside from a couple games because i have like 150+ms ping to the beta server.- With the amount of chaos in the new game it could shift everything a lot, so i plan to continue what i have been very recently (playing a lot, or even more than i have been) and get a hundred or two games down in the first 5-14 days to establish my position

I'll be playing the campaign all the way through while streaming it, got a few friends who like the SC lore but don't want to deal with playing it. Then I'll probably sleep a bit and rest up for a couple years of HotS laddering. I'll also set an appointment with a psychologist for that Friday since I play Zerg and get to fight hellbat drops and skytoss. ;P

Probably ladder Korea, best way to get good games early on (like in the beta), and if you can get high master/GM you can get a lot of sick games and replays against top players. Playing on NA, even if you get GM the people you play against will never leave you feeling "wow, that guy was SO much better than me, I can learn a LOT". I love that feeling from playing Koreans, it's a totally different kind of getting owned that you can only experience there :D

Its rough cause I have 10 days to take off work by April, but the week of March 11 to 15 my office is extremely short staffed so I have to work that week. So, I won't even get the game til late in the day, probably too tired to play much that night. If I start the campaign I'll probably play it all in one sitting so I'll wait til the weekend for that

I will be doing campaign first. With the state of the game atm, it isn't too enjoyable, at least for me.
I'm going straight for Brutal campaign whilst I let the meta sort itself out. Won't be in a rush though, as in my last year of uni and have to get that sorted too.

I could dive into the multiplayer part during the beta, so I'm most relaxed when concerning laddering.
Just give me a decent storyline and some achievements on a stick that need some thought and I'm happy.

2) One last sweep of the unit tester to make sure I'm still familiar with everything.
3) 5 custom games in which I max drones to 200 without getting supply blocked to warm up.

Luckily, it comes out during my spring break.
1) Get it at the midnight release.
2) Take some melatonin so I can actually sleep.
3) Wake up at 9am and snag some breakfast.
4) Hit the gym for some cardio and ab training at 10.
5) Play campaign when I get home until I realize that it's now Friday and I haven't eaten or slept in 3 days.
6) By then ladder MIGHT be live, so snag my diamond league badge as Zerg and start 4hatching before pool.

Have you ever noticed that everyone is kinda crazy ?
I played the beta as random. I feel protoss is fun, zerg is ok and terran is exactly the same as in WoL. No point to play HOTS if it's the same.
I watched many pros playing HOTS and they play terran exactly the same way as terran is played in WoL. I'm terran player, I don't want to start a new race.
If I was a new player, I would definitely pick protoss because HOTS adds a lot of new stuff to P. Terran has nothing (hellbat will be nerfed for sure and mine suck) so why would I spend 40 bucks for a game who doesn't deserve it ? Oh, new clan feature and new achievements ? Sorry, i'm no 12 yo --y

I live in California so I will be going to the launch party in Irvine. I've always wanted to go to one but wasn't able too cause I was working for Blizzard at the time Hopefully I'll be the first in line and get to meet some new people and have a great time. Then I'll play the campaign all the way through first before jumping onto ladder. I'm pretty excited for it!!

Pretty pumped for the campaign so I'll probably get right into that. Normal for my first run through, just for more replay value really and to avoid having to restart missions because I don't know what's coming. I'd like to ladder a bit in between missions but I kinda just want to finish a playthrough asap to avoid spoilers. We'll see.

Have the special collectors Edition Pre ordered at a store where I will immediately go in the morning and get it home, install it and beat the campaign on hard then Brutal then hundreds of times more on all difficulties and get all the achievements. Then Multi it is.

Normal stuff so Blog then Uni work, then do some of the campaign before moving on to the ladder.

I'll troll the ladder for a week or so and exploit all the changes as much as I can to get cheap wins till the people who are not in the beta get use to the new stuff. Then i'll stop laddering and do the campaign on hard, redoing each mission till I have all the achievements for it. Once that's done I'll go back and finish them all on Brutal then go back to ladder being legit.

Go home from school early and probably take the next day off so I can finish the campaign on normal. I've always enjoyed playing the campaigns from Blizz games. After that I'll probably do loads of team games before doing some 1v1.
Had a lot of friends who played WoL for the first month after the release and then quit. Some of them will be playing HotS for the same amount of time probably. So I want to make the most of that.
After that finish the campaign again on brutal + a lot of games vs the AI. I know a lot of people don't enjoy playing with the AI but I do quiet a bit. Did it so much in BW and with the new AI features in HotS It'll be a blast for me =D

You can play the campaign offline, right? Meaning a Diablo III-style opening day won't have the same effect?
Either way, I will play the campaign first. I think I might play brutal, to make it last the longest, although I might consider hard, to get a good reason to play it again later after I'm finished. Harder difficulties tend to be more fun the second times, not first.

What's the best way to buy HotS such as to have it when it comes out? I didn't get the collectors edition with wol so I think I'll get it for the expansions. If I order it online it'll arrive a week or so after it launches right? And my local gamestop probably won't carry the collectors edition right? Since sc2 isn't that popular of a game. Getting the digital download would be the fastest way to play but then I can't get the collectors edition right?

I never played the WoL campaign so my plan is:
I have an exam on 12 of March, afternoon so I will not play HotS on the release day but on the 13th of March I will start with WoL and then do HotS. Like a marathon. I'll try to make both games in one day. Will probably play on normal/hard (mainly because I'm interested in the story and wants to be done with the games in a day). So, streaming wol+hots-marathon on March 13 :D

The first thing I'm gonna do is hit ranked, hide a probe in their base and 4gate or cannon rush. That's how I get down.
After making some poor nerd rage, I'll probably play campaign. I'm quite interested in the story and it's not like I can't jump on ladder anytime I want in between.
I got BM'd so much on HotS already just because I play protoss. "You're bad, only make skytoss" (after outplaying them in macro games). So I guess I'm gonna remind them of what caused all the rage back when WoL came out.

First I go to school, wich ends 12:50 or propably earlier, then I take bus to home/Go and buy the game and if I pre-ordered it it has came whit post, then I install it, play ayb<e campaing so far as I think is good, play few unranked games, and then hop on ladder an play whole day.

On March 12, when WoL is officially put down, I will create a new ICCup account and try to at least do better than my old D- ... not too excited for playing HotS, but it's half-way entertaining to watch so I'll still watch some of the better Koreans' streams.

So happy it comes out over spring break, so if I am not hanging out with hotties in mexico (won't happen rofl.) ill be playing HOTS. My plan is to buy some some snacks and drinks and play my placement matches on the ladder, and then proceed to beat the story in a day or 2.

I pre-ordered the CE from Amazon. No idea when it'll get to my house, so I'll start playing when I get home from work. Probably the campaign on brutal. My wife and I are planning to celebrate by making Thorritos and MotherChip Cores. She came up with another good food pun but I can't remember it now.
And then I took the 13th off! So I'll play all freaking day so no one can spoil the campaign for me! YEEEEEAH!
Then I'll start doing quick matches once I'm done with the camp.

Eh if history is right, the game servers will be extremely laggy. I am hoping to maybe do a launch party that weekend.

Complete campaign, then play Toss begrudgingly until I finally make the switch to Terran like I've always wanted to.

I have evening lecture and tutorial until 9pm and afaik it hits at 5pm in Australia so I doubt I will have time to play but on Wed I have a day off and I am going to hit KR ladder hard (hopefully)

Already scheduled my time off work. I will be cracking out on multiplayer. Placed into silver in HotS beta because of a loss to widow miner bronze terran (had and still have no idea how to deal with widow mine drops), even though I'm rank 4 plat in WoL, so I have a very long ladder to climb to get to where I want to be.

Brutal campaign for 12-14 hours ez =P, I played Z in WoL, now I play T in Hots, kinda backwards I guess but I cant wait for the campaign and reaper-lings =D

I'm going to install it on the 12th then wait untill friday. On friday after work i will buy myself a couple monsters, sit down, and play to my heart's content. (Campaign first, then ladder)

Got my reading break that week so I'll definitely finish the brutal campaign right away.

After I finish with everything that is school related, I think I'll do some campaign.
However, if enough friends are online, I may decide to jump on the ladder as that is not something I have done in quite a long time. (Took a break from SC2 to enjoy LoL.)

Well, the 12th i'm going be in classes from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm, which include at least one exam; I preordered from amazon so I dont expect it to arrive till the 13th or 14th; thursday is going to be another 8:30 to 6:45 day with at least one more exam; Friday I might be free, but saturday I'll have a 3 hour exam from 9 am to 12; The following Monday I'll have a 5 page paper due on yet-to-be-known topic, soooooo... yeah... Heart of the Swarm probably wont start for me until the following week at the earliest.

I will probably keep working on my own projects, I dropped out of sc2 in November and HotS doesn't seem exciting enough to bring me back. Being a new game even the streams are pretty bland at the moment, maybe once they balance it I might get it but until then the few new units and couple of single player missions aren't enough to get me to buy it for march 12 but have ya'll

I for one am excited about playing through the campaign and tackling its achievement challenges. With WoL, I ran through it in Normal to experience the story and tech features, then on Hard to get the specific 'hard' achievements, and finally worked by way through Brutal once I had a better understanding of how each level works and what was required to beat it. This time around, I may do the opposite and go right through it on Brutal and then drop down to Hard for the Mastery achievements, and then Normal for any other Story achievements I may have missed. I figure that once you go through Brutal, everything else will seem like a piece of cake though working up to Brutal does definitely have its advantages of a better learning curve for each level's objectives and surprises.

Large brief and motion due before a federal court on the 14th. Therefore, I am hoping just to sneak home on the 12th to get a few games in before bed. However, the night of the 15th through the 17th is going to be a HOTS marathon.

I will rush the campaign until the week end. And during it I will play multi on "LAN" with 3 other friends :D

Play through God of War: Ascension. Saving Heart of the Swarm for the 13th. I never play Blizzard titles on day one. Poor server hamsters usually have issues and logging in usually proves frustrating.
