There is no confirmation that there will be beta for HotS in Feb just beacuse WoL had it the same. In fact I would assume there would be some huge global announcement is to when Blizzard would be nearing beta stages of HotS. I'm betting they are still in alpha stages of development and will be for some time. Dustin Browder even mentioned back in November (via interview) that they were still developing the HotS campaign. I'm going to guess early 2013. Blizzard is knee deep in developing Diablo 3 and the WoW expansion, so delays will most likely happen.

Don't forget though that retail and priority projects push aside other games in development. Diablo 3 in no doubt the next game to be released from Blizzard, and when that day approaches there will be huge focus from the company and community at large. There is also Blizzard Dota to be mentioned, which is rumored to be released sometime this year. Basically, the only game I expect to see be released this year is Diablo 3. WoW expansion too, but that's a maybe. 2012 Fall seems way to early. HotS in 2012? Soon.

All I had to do was read the one sentence that contained: a) a statement (Blizzard is knee deep in developing Diablo 3 and the WoW expansion) b) a conclusion (so delays will most likely happen) Guess what? The conclusion you gave was wrong. It's no big deal but I wanted to point out to you that they have different development teams since your' sentence gave the impression you didn't know. If you can't admit you're wrong due to your ego, that's fine, but please don't bash other people for giving you some information. In the future I would advise you structure your paragraphs and sentences correctly if what you posted wasn't what you intended and you intend to rage at anyone pointing this out to you.

+ Show Spoiler + Why should it be a big, campaign-finishing story moment that Kerrigan finally kills Mengsk when she utterly defeats him, all the Protoss, and the entire UED in a single mission of Brood War?

I think what you *wanted* to say is that Blizzard might not want to release their expansions and games in quick succession for PR reasons and also because there is some target audience overlap between those titles. It would make sense, even though I don´t think release dates would be close to each other either way. Especially BlizzDotA, since they never had any involvement in anything like it. Does someone know if Blizzdota is developed seperate from SC2 and if yes, since when? Unless of course you mean that retail and priority projects are literally going to take away staff from development, which is nonsensical.

Think at the progress HotS still needs to accomplish as well. If alpha was nearing its completion and beta was around the corner, Blizzard would have said something by now. Don't forget either that Beta would last a few months, then retailing would also last a few months. Not to mention that HotS, like all Blizzard titles, will most likely get pushed back for unknown reasons.
