I honestly love Blizzard CE's and will likely get this one too.
Anyone who knows how Blizzard usually does these knows there will be: An Art book A soundtrack Behind the scenes DVD of the game In-Game goodies, I'm guessing special models for the Ultralisk or Broodlord. Oh and the portraits. WoW in-game stuff, maybe an Ultralisk or Broodlord pet for WoW
So what I'm wondering is what do you think will be in it?
I think that for similarities sake they will put in a personal item for Kerrigan, much like they did with Raynor's dog tags. I'm honestly not sure what they'll use for this, perhaps there will be something in HoTS that she will pick up. As it stands right now they could put in her glasses from her ghost costume, but Blizzard will usually choose to make there goodies have a use, much like the Raynor USB.
I doubt that this one will have a comic book in it like the last one. I am leaning towards adding in a mouse pad, which is an idea borrowed from the WoW CE's.
So what are your ideas?

I've been buying Collector's Edition from Blizzard since SC2/WotLK, I love them, totally worth the extra money. I personally love the CE thor skin, I think it looks amazing.
I didn't get the WoL but since I'm zerg, I'll have to get the HotS one. I really hope they have a cool upgraded unit like how collector's edition buyers got the cool Thor with the wings. Maybe an ultra with more spikes and general badassery?
I don't know if I'll buy this CE with the knowledge that another expansion is coming out right after. Just feels like a waste of money, even though I play Zerg and I want a special in-game unit.

I used to buy the collector's edition for games - but over time the box just ends up in the basement and a lot of the extra goodies in the pack are set aside (ie: the behind the scenes/music discs I never touched). Standard edition for me.
I expect a kerrigan model, zergling/zerg crest keychain. In game unit-wise, unless blizzard has some awesome new units - I think a special ultralisk (with extra blades?) would represent.
I didn't buy the original SCII CE because I deemed it a rip-off. Worst mistake in a while. That Night Elf Banshee portrait is freaking amazing, and I really, really want the other stuff. I will DEFINITELY buy the CE for HotS
Dammit, I read this thinking it was the contents of the HoTS collector's edition =(. Anyhoo, I play Terran so I don't think I'll be getting HoTS CE.
That said, I was extremely disappointed that the WoL CE did NOT contain a Raynor notepad. Like WTF? it was in the regular edition but not the CE, therefore, I am probably going to buy the regular edition for HoTS for hopefully an HoTS notepad!
Unless of course there's something absolutely awesome for the HoTS CE.
edit: I absolutely love the WoL CE's Thor model, so hopefully they will put something like that for HoTS for Zerg, but probably still won't get it since I don't main race Zerg and will rarely ever see that unit.

Yeah I haven't seen any other than the one in my CE. The book is pretty well drawn and is centered on the War Pigs (The mercenary marines in the story mode)
I will admit that I'm a bit of a digital goodie whore, I bought the Blizzcon stream for the pet they gave in WoW. And to watch the matches they had going, but mostly for the pet.
I am hoping for some bad ass looking portraits in this one too, just like the Night Elf Banshee or the Diablo Marine.
Hopefully something with infested Kerrigan but that'll probably be a Hard or Brutal campaign achievement.
I was thinking something like this for the Ultralisk skin.
Also maybe a pre-infested Kerrigan skin for ghosts, BUT this must be in addition to a zerg bonus. It would be way too unfair to always give terran the bonuses.
Also +1 to the plushie idea. I want a 2 foot long zergling with metabolic wings.

If they made a keychain or a necklace or something with the zerg crest I'd put it on my keys/wear it.
Expecting an artbook, something related to WoW (or Diablo III if its out by then), and a unit skin (lurker maybe? or a different color baneling)
well since they can't possibly do another full behind the scenes DVD, i hope they fill half of the DVD with a section labled ESPORTS, and it's a bunch of interviews with pro players and stuff

I'd buy it(and hopefully they will release a CE), am planing too because I believe that it will be similar to what was inside "Wings of liberty" and as such is worth the money.
I'll probably wait for the Protoss expansion to get the CE, but if I had to guess, I think the Zerg CE will come in a big tub of goo filled with spines and blood.

but if they refuse to give us that then an infestor pet would be pretty cool and maybe some sort of zerg figurine that sticks on your computer and of corse some artwork and behind the scenes stuff oh and the unique unit should be the hatchery that way we get maximum viewing of its awesomeness.

I didn't get the WoL CE and i am soo going to get HOTS CE because i play Z and im quiet sure that blizz will either give us A new ultralisk or queen skin i somehow want them to give ultralisk a new skin and hopefully it will be more used in HOTS and not the crappy unit it is now.

Let's be honest: with blizzard, money comes first, gameplay comes second. What will generate more CE sales (and thus a larger profit margin)? An ingame advantage of course.

I don't believe that would be a viable strategy for Blizzard to pursue.
I realize it's the cool new thing for youngins to hate on companies etc, but let's not stray off-topic.
I wanted all 3 collectors editions, but I couldn't get my hands on the CE for WoL so I'm contemplating getting just 1, or 2.... but having an incomplete set makes me fidgety
A queen special model would be so killer; much better than an ultralisk, because you actually get a queen every game; the thor one is kind of "meh" because you typically only get thors in one matchup, and even then only in the late game
I preordered the sc2 for beta but I didn't got the ce sadly T_T but this time I'll buy the ce, would be awesome to have some extra ingame goodies like pics or so but actually a plushie sounds awesome ;D
never bought any CE but now im getting more ''into'' starcraft i might get it if they include something cool. my sugestion would be a pluche unit or an ingame skin (like the CE thor but for all races)
Rather than a special skin for BL or Ultras I think it'll be a special skin for one of the new units, makes more sense. Probably a tier 3 unit unless they don't add one of those.

This just makes the CE Thor model all the more special.
it doesnt necessarily has to be an ultralisk or broodlord. It could be any unit as long as it looks cool but the obvious choice would be the ultralisk or broolord because they are big and the chance we see on them would be more obvious. I'd be fine with a zergling with 8 legs or even an overlord with a penis as long as it looks cool and shows others what I have and they dont. :D
Forget the WoW connection, I hope HoTS's CE (if they make one) gives my Witch Doctor the ability to summon zerglings instead of mongrels or Ultras instead of Frogs with a special CE Rune that works on any Diablo 3 spell to make it SC2-ish.

HotS CE is the only one I"ll be purchasing. I already own sc/bw and have played zerg since time before brood war. Take my money I don't care what you include.

I don't think they'd put another dogtag, because Protoss won't have one, and then you'll have 2 dogs tags for 2 CE, and another CE with no dogtags... it just doesn't fit, imo.
I don't know how an "expansion collector's edition" may work, so are there even any confirmations or hints if this will actually come out? I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but if it doesn't even come out.

uhh WoW expansions have CE's to. so i think its a pretty save bet.
They most likely would add a mount for WoW (since they already did the zerling pet) and a character skin or something for Diablo III. And my bet is whatever new zerg unit that comes in HoTS is the one that will get the unique look, just like the Thor in WoL. However I am looking forward to the art book the most; those drawings are amazing!

He's sit there on my desk, with "It's ok, the swarm still loves you!" written on a sticky note, being held by his cute little razor sharp talons, so I could look at it when I lose and everything would be better.
My God, imagine how swell a Kerrigan action figure would be? And an actual action figure, not a PVC statue that just sits around on a shelf collecting dust. (PVC would be fine too)

Even though I anticipated WoL just as much as any other Blizzard fan out there, I just did not have the funds to buy the CE, but I definitely bought the game on release day. I probably will never actually go out and buy the CE for WoL, would be sort of a waste since I already have the game, but with HotS it is a different story. In all probability will I be buying the CE for that, since I will save up money so long and I just cannot miss the opportunity. An awesome thing to be included with the CE would be something like a comic book, detailing Kerrigan's history as an overmind; as well as something like a cool gadget or anything similar to the Raynor dogtag.

i think they could include some action figure, hydralisk would be totaly awesome. Because i realy can't go outside with my Raynor dog tag on my neck cause i will look like tard with it, but some action figure placed next to my monitor would be great
I'm not getting any of the collector's edition boxes. Before SC2 got released I was actually thinking of buying but I changed my mind. The contents of the box ain't really worth the price IMO.
Do you think it'll be possible to buy a CE of HoTS with a US region, and merge it with my EU account? Then will i be able to play on both server or just one?

The CE in-game Thors are so cool and I play Terran mainly. I'm guessing there will be a modified zerg unit for the HoTS CE as well. Will try to obtain this one!
I won't be getting it. I was considering the original CE (mainly for the WoW pet) but when they made the Thor pet barely animate/do anything, I don't want that to happen to meeee.
The CE should totally replace default Zerglings with Day[9]lings. It would make for at least one very special Funday Monday.
I wish I had an extra $60 to drop on the WOL CE way back when, that Thor is pretty awesome. I think maybe a Spine Crawler USB stick with BW could replace the lack of Zerg dogtags.

id rather hope for a broodlord skin then one for ultralisk since i dont ever choose to go ultras cuz they are often the worse choice but then we dont know if this will chance in HoTS
I will get it as long as it's available in my country or at least in play-asia who can send it to my town. I missed the WoL since it's availability it's really really limited in play-asia and not available in my country T_T

For the content itself, I'm hoping to see another USB dog tag or something similar. I got WoL dog tag, but not the USB one, and I always wear it wherever I go It's really cool.
Hi all, I hope this is good enough of a reason to bump this thread. If not I apologize. However it looks like on MMO champion that a Feat of Strength is being added into WoW for the upcoming Mists of Pandaria expansion. Why is this important you ask? It is the pet that players will receive for purchasing the Collector's Edition for HotS, which looks like it will be a Baneling. Here is a link to that site http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/. Now I'm wondering since MoP will be released on 9/25 if this will have any indication of when we could possibly see the Beta? That is just speculation but the fact that they are adding achievements in for HotS must mean that they are really close to doing something with the expansion or we get more details about what will at least come with the Collector's Edition.

Also remember they will change SC2 to work like D3 works regarding what servers you can play on with only one account. You will be able to play on all servers with just one account, though each server will have its own ladder etc.

I haven't bought the WoL CE yet, too, but I've read, that you're able to upgrade your Account to CE... otherwise I wouldn't really want the HotS CE - and that would be a shame
I am in Australia, I just want ANY edition which isn't rip off edition. If Americans pay 50$ US for it, I want to pay 50$ US for it. However unlike WoL They've fixed the online store now and charge different prices per region :/
So I need to purchase a US retail copy and activate that key against my account (sigh) so I basically can't buy the game at launch.

Seriously, in the Skyrim Standard-Edition for 27€ from Amazon I got a Small Soundtrack and a Map ...that is way better than this CE from Blizzard.
I hope it doesn't cost 35€. I only made 27€ until now with Diablo 3 Gold (and 270€ with d3 betakeys, but that doesn't count!) and I want to use that for HotS...

I could see a soundtrack or and art book, SOMETHING that offers more.

I really hope for a unique skin for a zerg unit, personally I'd love to see a unique skin on the Overlord, Brood Lord or Ultralisk.
Collector edition is not about _your_ enjoyment of the game, it's to sell units to players of _other_ games that otherwise wouldn't have bothered to buy it.
I know alot of people dont touch the stuff except to collect but I found the BTS commentary and DVD to be really, really interesting. It also helps because they clarify what things mean and whether or not something is meant to be vague or not. The USB stick I still use to this day, although I deleted SC1 off it for the space.

This can backfire though. I bought SC2 CE for the WoW pet and then ended up getting way more into SC2 then I ever was into WoW and canceling my WoW subscription and instead playing an obscene number of ladder matches. This has been a very positive life change for me but I doubt Blizzard's pocketbooks would agree.
That said I'll probably buy the Hots CE and I may have to resub to WoW for 1 month just to check out the pet. Maybe that will return me to my old drug (I doubt it though since SC2 is so much better than WoW).

The SC2:WoL CE like most CE did some with full soundtrack, behind the scenes dvd/bluray, plus a really cool artbook.
I'm guessing SC2HoTS CE will have same treatment. Special WoW pet, Diablo3 sigils, SC2 special portraits and maybe a unit. And on top the soundtrack, behind the scenes dvd/bluray, artbook. WoL CE also had a few other things.
No, you don't get that HotS is ONLY A EXPANSION. The Standard Edition will probably costs somewhere around 30€ - so they can't make a 90€ CE. And since Blizzard isn't making the huge money they made back in 2010 they will probably don't want to lose money with their CEs.
I never got into these CE-Ripoffs. I bet 95% of people who bought it, never watched the DVD or looked at the Artbook more than 5min.

Well said to be honest, I never bought a CE either. However, I have loved and played Zerg since the early days of Starcraft. Heart of the Swarm - an expansion specifically dedicated to my favorite race - will become the only exception and then not for the artbook or the wow pet, or even the dvd, but for the ingame skin on a unit or ingame unique zerg portrait.
And no I don't care for plushies - they get dusty, smelly and I'm not a young child (though perhaps in a few years my own child could play with it).
I can tell you if it lacks either an ingame skin or a zerg portrait, it won't be worth it to me either. Though a Zerg themed USB drive or something would probably be fun, that alone won't cut it for me.
Collector Edition should have Hydra with attack animation from BW (the green-spit like animation).
While that would be nice, I'd rather have some more of a bad-ass Ultra with serrated tusks. Whatever the ultra uses to attack, Idk what people call them, but yeah the massive cleaver like arms they have.

Since the CEs are in high demand it is hardly a rip-off. If you open your CE, you will understand why.
The Collectors Edition will be much like the WoL edition.
I forsee that it will contain:
1 Game on DVD.
1 Artwork Book, hardcover.
1 Music of the game CD.
1 Behind the Scenes DVD, with interviews and cinematics, etc.
1 WoW in-game mini ultralisk pet, or possibly a broodlord mount (though a mount seems unlikely.)
1 Account decals: extra portraits (i forsee a Pandorean siege tank, a Decard Cain marine [beard hanging out over armor lol], a diablolisk [some type of monster]) + decals
1 Exclusive In-game skin either for the Swarm Host or the Ultralisk (swarm host because it can be cooler)
1 Exclusive Hydralisk Claw USB 2gb drive made of some nice material and painted nicely, will look cool but will be kindly useless? OR possibly, a high grade star map of the planets in the korpulu sector pluis a nice mousepad as well..
Should be worth it, this summer i picked up two CE WoL games, one with over 40 signatutes from the developers (will try to get one of each CE with signs and resale one day in hopes of it having some value) and one to play with, even though its not my region at the moment
Will surely get CEs for HOTS and LOTV. Nerd Alert Activated.
Tobe honest; it'll most likely include the CD, a soundtrack, an artbook, portraits, sigils and a pet in WoW and a nice model. Definately worth it. And still hoping for a baneling plushy. ;D

Maybe back in pre-Activision days there may have not been a collectors edition, but today its all about profit and market saturation. They know legions of loyal fans will by it so they will make it for sure. You can think of every WoW game after the vanilla as an expansion as well and they all got CEs, so im sure we will see one.
They know a plushy would be extremely popular so that's why it will not be in a CE even if they decide to make one. They would sell it in the Blizzard Store for $20 (or 20€ if you're unlucky enough to live in Europe) because people would buy it anyway.

WoW expansions have CEs, thus it makes sense for SC2 expansions to also have them.
I don't want a special skin for the Ultralisk, after all it's HOTS Expansion and I expect to have a special skin for one of the HOTS zerg units. Swarm Host > Viper.

So we are looking at a possible end of the beta by early December. How long will it take to go from end of Beta to release? I have no experience in these things but I'd say it would be extremely tight scheduling for them to release it before Christmas, so my best guess is mid January 2013.

I am not at all optimistic there will be a christmas release. While they have always indicated that the beta for hots will not last as long, and even went as far as to say at one point 2 months from beta start they took half a year on WoL and 3/4 of a year on D3.
They will probably try to push for Christmas regardless as thats their job but we just have to see

Maybe.. They keep saying sp is pretty much done. After beta is balanced and ready to roll out they should be good to go. I'd say 3 month beta. Thats how long WOL was and they were patching and balancing EVERY unit. Here its only a couple and fixing old ones to work with the new ones and still not mess up the whole game.
Anyways I'd say it should be out for Christmas. Worst case Jan 2013.
I can't recall from the wol release or any recent world of warcraft xpac releases, but how did folks manage that bought the CE but still wanted to log on right when the servers came up (barring midnight releases and such)? Does blizzard let you upgrade to a CE with a CE key from a box if you already have the digital edition tied to you account? I vaguely remember people talking about this at the wol release, but not sure now.

Blizzard did this for Diablo 3, I've bought the digital version and upgraded it with my CE. After that I called the support and they gave me a new Diablo 3 Digital Key - which I sold to a friend.
