Now a little break until the club world cup, oh and we signed Liam Delap from Ipswich for £30 million, seems a good deal that.

Well actually, Chelsea never won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup... ![]() It does feel like a weird thing to sing about given that most clubs who have won both a European Cup/Champion's League and a Cup Winner's Cup/UEFA Cup/Europa League probably don't want to qualify for the Conference League. But once you're in it, you might as well go on and win it, and that's what you did. Chelsea looked really lacklustre in the first half of that final. The subs in the second half really turned the tables. The strength of Chelsea's squad depth really shone through. Cole Palmer looked great in the second half.

Muller is gone, Neuer has signed on for next season but will be 40. Alphonos Davies will miss a big chunk of next season due to his knee. Goretzka is heavily rumoured to be leaving. Eric Dier is going to Monaco. Normally they cannibalise the Bundesliga and hoard all the best players in their league, and while they have picked up Jonathon Tah, the early indications are that Bundesliga clubs are going to be either keeping their players or selling elsewhere.

Haha correct, none of us wanted to be in it, but when the carrott of being the first to win all the trophies came up then we all wanted to win it and we did. Got some great minutes for academy players as well and some good goals/performances along the way. Yep the club world cup this summer is going to be wild enough, we just announced a pre season friendly which is 3 days after the final of the club world cup! That means 0 rest !

I don't want to hear a single player or manager complain about too many fixtures. Playing friendlies is a choice.

They are highly remunerated of course, their wages come from demand. It’s the players who will cop the flak if their form dips because they’re knackered. Or worse, affect their career directly if they suffer a big injury. Likewise managers have to carry the can if results dip. It’s really only a problem for elite, elite players and sides but I think we are approaching the level of diminishing returns and too much football. As Tim Vickery points out every, every single time this topic comes up on the World Football Phone-In, Alexis Sanchez played 3 full European seasons, with an international tournament in each summer. 2 Copa Americas, and a World Cup. He managed it, for a bit. Was never really the same player again, just burned out. Pedri got flogged into the ground for such a young player, and he’s only really back to his best now. Fingers crossed I can actually catch some of the CL final mid-transit! Although if I don’t we’d better bloody win!

Gotta be one of if not the most emphatic victories in a European final. Clearly the best team. And to think they nearly had a league stage exit!

What I didn’t say, so I’ll look a bit wise after the fact, I think Inter have to bring close to their A-game. If they don’t, they risk being blown away by that tier of side. If they do, they can beat anyone, but they have to be at it. I feared a similar outcome versus Man City a few years back, we had a worse side than this one then, City were a better side than us, and as good as this PSG. But we really brought a performance and could have won that one tbh. Slightly different sides but for me it’s a bit reminiscent of Athletico Madrid when they were making deep runs. They couldn’t really afford to not bring it either, their A game could beat anyone, but their B game was considerably worse than that of some of their competition. I just hope we can stick around. It’s going to be tough as fuck to rebuild that squad and still be competing for CL finals, with less money than a lot of that tier of opponent. Not my bias here, I think it’s good for the game to have Italian sides making deep runs. But the stars have to really align. Peak, peak Jose Mourinho with a quality squad managed it, that’s 15 years ago now and the financial gap was smaller. Allegri’s Juventus and now Inter have made more than one deep run. But in both cases you’re talking multiple seasons of almost flawless recruitment. Window after window. Italian sides can do it, we’ve seen that. But you can’t eat a bad window, or a big money signing that doesn’t come off without quickly slipping back down. No sour grapes here, more of my usual complaints about the wider direction of football :p Unlike me. Been a cracking season lads and ladettes. Apparently not over just yet… Dunno if I can handle much more football haha

They’ve Kvaradona too, one of my favourite mavericks of this era So absolutely fair fucks there. I have certain other issues, but hey ye Paris fans, like Newcastle ones earlier the season I can’t begrudge youse your celebrations. Don’t go too mental!

With the disclaimer that i really dont rate the player, PSG are better of without him, and he probably has something to do with real's internal issues.
