if for example teamviewer announced that they wanted to distance themselves from man utd after this choice because the principle behind this move isnt something they could condone and therefore put the new deal at risk, that would pressure the clubs also. highly unlikely that it happens but it would be nice to see some big companies involved as sponsors threaten to drop out

Sadly I have hard times getting a quality ChL here so this may be a big upgrade for me. Unless the same idiots who run ChL content in here will run the SL, then it's RIP and I'm not gonna watch it the same way I am not watchin the ChL

I moved to Manchester partly because of its rich football heritage. This move divorces clubs from their local areas, from their local fans, from everything that makes football a special sport. I want to see our city council deny the clubs permission to play here. I want to see the Premier League and the EFL refuse to have them in their leagues. It probably won't happen, but i'd like to see it. I was willing to support football as a whole despite its incredible wealth, because that wealth was invested back into the cities attached to these teams. There was real connection between the local people and the teams who represented them, that's all down the shitter now. I'm so angry.

Yeah, because nothing says history and tradition better than - here used to be United, Arsenal, City and Chelsea. Now they're gone. And here used to be the Anfield Road, now you can buy here good hairproducts at Wallmart! Yay! Tradition, fans and shit. Punish them out of existence. Pick one, plz.

These clubs, and their history and traditions, are already dead the moment they announced this. Their fans (the real supporters) are the ones who are most against this, most upset by it. Don't pretend punishing these teams would be punishing their fans, their fans are the ones calling for it. I'd love for Old Trafford to be a football museum. Right now its the only use it has, so it can show what United used to be in this city. Buying hair products at Walmart and watching the Super League will about the same in terms of empty vacuous meaningless bullshit ![]() From the Guardian: “Oliver Dowden, the culture secretary, is to make a statement to the Commons on Monday afternoon, probably at about 5pm. It is understood that officials in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport are examining what powers the government might have to stop the plan, and what action it could take. Options believed to be under consideration include taking action under competition laws, and wider reforms, for example guaranteeing fans a greater say in the running of clubs and the wider sport.” Looks like this might have beneficial long term consequences for the sport if the tories somehow grew some balls overnight,. Guaranteeing fans a greater say sounds good. Stopping the Super League sounds great. Do it, tories.

Either way a wish for a destruction and oppressive actions seems weird. It just shows how big these teams are that so many wish for such drastic punishments. (e.g. sharkie and his BAN EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING|!!!!) If you don;t like them, ignore this and move on. Without the interest this will die out itself. The issue is, that a season withotu these teams in the ChL and PL may severly hurt these. Edit> Also when people pretend UEFA and FIFA are good it makes me chuckle. But I guess even the Satan as these two are look good against this xD (non profit organization - has billions on accounts)

But I guess even the Satan as these two are look good against this xD (non profit organization - has billions on accounts) UEFA and FIFA are the ones who made this happen, along with Sky. No-one should pretend they are good, but if they can save fans from this they know it will look good for them, even if its blatantly out of self interest. As for 'just ignoring them', its not an option. This idea needs to be killed for good, and these rich cunts who own these clubs need to be shown that they don't own the world and that there's some things that they can't sell. History, culture etc. that stuff can't just be sold. The clubs should lose the rights to their stadia, to their names and players and managers should be allowed to void their contracts. That's the very least. Manchester United can start again as a real football team, owned by fans. and take their heritage and history with them, leaving the Glazers with whatever empty cash cow they want. Call them Glazer United for all I care. Then go form a superleague and see who wants to watch Glazer United vs Abramovich Rovers, because that's all these clubs are.

The board members are salivating at this moment on how they can get a piece of that $3.5b pie.

The board members are salivating at this moment on how they can get a piece of that $3.5b pie. they dont get any of it? sponsors arent an investor of the club. what matters to sponsors is brand visibility, image and value. their exposure will definitely be affected by this for better or worse (hopefully worse) and their image wont be directly impacted but it would make them look a lot better to distance themselves from this, whilst potentially having something to lose by condoning such a move. if these teams were to drop out of their respective leagues and be subject to completely different competitions and tv rights deals, i could see a scenario where sponsors argue that those terms arent reflected in their deals and they break away. whether it actually happens is to be seen but the possibility is definitely there well seems like the clubs arent bluffing. #WOODWARDOUT #GLAZERSOUT

I think its more likely this is a) a distraction b) he would get more money after the cup final this weekend c) kane/son said its them or him he was on his way out anyway because quite frankly he has become a ridiculous fraud, none of the skills/success left but all of the drama
