What will players do? I hope plenty of players would be put off by the FIFA + UEFA bans and they would just go back to their domestic leagues. I know money is the main thing but there's gotta be a good amount who value playing for their national team and playing in competitions like the FA cup. Guys like Mason Mount, in fact all the young England players who are building a reputation for themselves, they surely won't want to be locked out of that.

[Alex Kay-Jelski, the Athletic editor-in-chief] - Put out a story to put pressure on UEFA - Get everyone in a massive, angry flap - Take the insults because there’s huge money at stake - Come to a new CL agreement and put the super league back in the cupboard again till leverage is needed Which seems the whole move is a leverage thing?

Also, I wonder if they had anticipated such a strong, quick, and uniformly negative response to the announcement -- from fans, associations, pundits, even politicians. Could this mean that they could still back off?

You're probably right. Hopefully The timing suggests it tbh.

The first thing the EPL should do is a massive fine and deduct 100 points from any team involved for the next 2 seasons they spend in the Premier League. The EFL should refuse to have them too so they have to go to the Conference. Stop their players playing in international competitions. Just go straight for the harshest possible measures. Tempt their players away. Give them a choice to void their contracts and leave immediately. Also, praise Leicester and West Ham, our new overlords. The biggest world wide fanbases are for Barca, Real, United, Juve, Chelsea, Live, PSG, Bayern, City and Arsenal. I'm schocked that these teams were invited instead of others with better results... when it's all about money... I wonder why
