This is a really interesting look at ACL injuries that require surgery. it provides some insight as to why people suffer other major injuries months after their ACL is healed. Months after the physical recovery from the general aneasthetic and surgery happened the patient's brain is not functioning as it did before the injury. there are still issues.

"The brain fundamentally changed in how it processes information from an injured knee," said Dustin Grooms, a researcher who conducted the study at Ohio State and is currently employed at Ohio University. "We think those changes play a big role in why people who recover from ACL injuries don't trust their knees entirely and tend to move them differently."
Consistently depending on the brain's visual systems for movement can cause complications when participating in complex sports. To help patients overcome that, therapists are using strobe glasses to include motor learning and visual-motor compensations in rehabilitation.

With Toronto and Peel undergoing total shutdown there is no way multiple levels of government could green-light the Raptors playing in hogtown.
I just took a walk down Yonge Street.. and lemme tell ya boys.. there is a chill in the air.. a fear...a foreboding... i haven't felt since the 2003 power failure. it is spooky. The line up at the Liquor Store at Yonge and Wellesley is a fucking kilometer long. LOL

its funny that liquor/beer stores are considered "essential services", not sure why ppl are lined up for something that's going to stay open, just at a lower capacity.

I assume the lines at liquor stores are because even though they are staying open, maybe the bars are being closed and the folks in those lines normally frequent bars many times a week but don't frequent liquor stores. So there may be a huge surge in demand at alcohol vendors to replace the sales at bars.

Can confirm. Bars in LA have been closed or at minimum capacity since March. Liquor stores are thriving. Grocery stores are even allowing me to purchase booze through self-checkout which was illegal before, I still have to get carded by the attendant but it beats standing in the one open register's line just for a pack of beer.

And now the Thunder are trading Steven Adams for draft picks. Sam Presti is a madlad.

By the time the 2026 draft is finished, I predict Sam Presti will have enough players to play college football.

The Hayward deal surprises me. He turned down a $34.6 million 1-yr extension to play for a contender and a chance to be a free agent again when we already have a COVID vaccine. He's getting an average of $30 mil a year for 4 years on a rebuilding team. Feels like he doesn't have much confidence he can stay healthy for 1 season.
|
that is possible. Maybe he realizes/speculates he isn't getting as many possessions and shots this upcoming year as Tatum blossoms into a better player. If he is thinking that way he figures his value will drop quite a bit while he plays 2nd fiddle to Tatum. OR it could be a combo of both of these factors.
it is a rather curious move though...

Makes the most sense to package them for higher draft position if and when the draft gets loaded up again.

i do not get that particular logic, like even if a draft is good or loaded, who in their right mind would trade a top 5 or 10 pick for a bunch of picks in the 20s? you're not going to get anyone nearly as good in the 20s than top 10 usually.
paying hayward 30mil a year, that's a gamble.

You'd be packaging them with players and probably not for a top 5 pick.
