He makes no apologies for his British bias, and he did get Russel/Hamilton wrong a couple of times, but mostly it was alright today | ||

Do you watch the free practice? I think it was FP1 last week where he made some strange comments on Verstappen just being as fast as he is because of his car, also saying RB is the fasted car when their own graph says the Ferari has been the fasted so far and yesterday he was talking about a dumb twitter rumor that Checo has a different car than Max (was called "naughty" by his co for that one). Also a reminder that they are the international broadcast. | ||

There is another international broadcast, which is the default for the F1TV app now, which is also really good. But I must admit I do enjoy the sky sport guys' enthusiasm a bit more, even if I do have to listen through the fingers on their bias at times | ||

I really miss the BBC coverage of, well, long ago now. | ||

Crofty is a complete joke of a commentator. I mean he is doing british commentary so you cant really blame him, but he is impossible to listen to for non-uk. Palmer is great, Collins has a light form of Crofty-bias and thinks he knows what he is talking about. Sometimes he says smart things, often times he ll blurt something out and then its fun to listen to Palmer correcting him by saying the exact opposite. I do miss Brundle though if I listen to F1tv commentary. But having to listen to Crofty to hear Brundle is just not worth the braindamage. Anythings better than dutch commentary though... ouch. Ferrari, Ferrari, what were you doing. I can somewhat understand trying to maintain track position. But not in that cold/possibly wet conditions, hards just wont work, especially when you still have good tyrelife on your current tyres after your first stop was later than the other 5 of the top 6. I mean compare Leclerc vs Hamilton strategy. Leclerc was +- 11 sec. ahead at his 2nd stop, he had the best tyre life, was doing great laptimes, reported his tyres were good, could have easily extended till they can put the softs on, come out 5 -10 seconds behind Verstappen and pass him with 5 - 10 laps to spare. | ||

Seems like Ferrari engineers are overthinking at this point. Of course, modern racing is all about data, data, and data. But it's all about finding a balance between engineer smarts and driver skills. RB drivers seem to have more autonomy and say in race strategy (not opting for hard tyres after recon). Whilst Ferrari drivers are just stuck with what the engineers say. Sounds cheesy and romantic, but it's time for Ferrari drivers to put way their tech gadgets and listen to that inner voice: "Use the Force, Charles!" | ||

You'd think if they did they'd have went with another strategy but who knows at this point. Anyone else getting a bit numb from these blunders? I noticed when it became clear they were fucking up again my reaction was not as strong as before, as if I was expecting it. I still feel bad for Charles but I'm not even that mad anymore. Anyone else getting a bit numb from these blunders? I noticed when it became clear they were fucking up again my reaction was not as strong as before, as if I was expecting it. I still feel bad for Charles but I'm not even that mad anymore. I think I'm in the acceptance stage.. yep, I basically gave up after Paul Ricard, and moved on. At this stage I'm just enjoying great driving and human emotions. | ||
