The Celtics Look an Awful Lot Like the WarriorsEndless versatility on defense and at least four shot creators on the floor at all time—that’s been the blueprint for the Warriors’ success for years. It’s working in Boston, too.![[image loading]](https://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/rjKcZfHPhe1W0ONOEJG9_7chz-M=/0x0:3000x2000/920x613/filters:focal(1260x760:1740x1240)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/59736217/WarriorsizationOfCeltics_Getty_Ringer.0.jpg)
The Celtics exposed every weak point in the 76ers rotation, and they could do the same to the Cavs. Korver and Jordan Clarkson were the two main targets in Game 1. Korver has clear physical limitations, while Clarkson just seems lost on that end. No matter what happens in this series, Boston’s future looks incredible. The Celtics started the season with Horford, Brown, and Tatum around Kyrie and Hayward, and that lineup now looks like a near replica of the Hamptons Five.

Perhaps teams should look into these things called, "offenses". They are often confused with scoring, but in reality they are about over-performing when other teams actually play defense.

When you take away the TOs/steals and missed freethrows, the game looks a lot closer.
To bring up the Lebron h8erade again, I think the narrative flip-flopping is what annoys a lot of people. Not two days ago the argument was being made essentially that the only reason Lebron's teams were overpowered in the East was because Lebron was on them. Now that they are losing, the "the team is failing Lebron" articles are coming out.

But according to the Internet, he would destroy his legacy if he made the finals and his record goes down to 3-6. Better not make the finals and stay at 3-5.
In other news, Al Horford has now improved to 3-15 vs Lebron in the playoffs.

Lebron: My teams are always letting me down. Horford: ....

that sounds the same to me.
lebron's team is good because he's on it, and its bad because it sucks apart from him.

I'd be willing to give Lebron more of a pass on the "my team always lets me down excuse" if he hadn't been the primary architect and de facto leader of those teams over the past several years. Additionally, there just always seems to be something culturally wrong with Lebron's teams, which undoubtedly flows from him.

Your corollary is "Lebron is the best player, so he should always win".

Yea, Lebron had some bad TOs. That's true. But his backcourt also scored 3 total points and the offense without him on the floor looks like the Three Blind Mice playing taps.
Lebron, Love, and TT are the only players who have showed up so far for the Cavs. And Tyronn Leu has made some terrible decisions, including re-inserting JR Smith into the lineup late in the fourth.

The narrative flipping thing is inevitable considering how the Cavs have gone in the playoffs. From struggling, then sweeping the 1 seed, then struggling. The media is there to sensationalize things and fans are reactionary morons with the attention span of turnips. LeBron's teammates have gone from missing everything, to draining every shot, to missing everything. Here's the combined stats of Love/Korver/Smith by series so far this playoffs:
vs IND - 28.3 PPG on 34.0 FG% vs TOR - 47.5 PPG on 54.0 FG% vs BOS - 29.5 PPG on 35.5 FG%
Love/Korver/Smith are the Cavs next 3 higher scorers this post-season. So it's slightly understandable to see why fans and media are flip-flopping on their opinions of JR/Love/Coach Lue but if you think someone is an all-star caliber player one week and not the next then you're either a moron or you think the monstars came down from outer space and stole his talent.

I don’t really know what else that the Rockets could have done last night to win playing the style that they played. If anything, it felt like they made more shots than they really had any business making. B-b-but statistical models say it's optimal! They certainly don't support Kevin Durant completely dominating by scoring from everywhere on the court shooting over everyone's head. + Show Spoiler +I know it's a straw man, don't feel obligated to respond. But seriously though Kevin Durant is the dirtiest 1v1 player the league might have seen. You can roughly scheme to handle the other Warriors, but you cannot do that AND scheme against KD at the same time. The moment you choose (or are forced) to not double-team him, you just have to pray he has a REALLY off night. In this game I'm not even sure they planned to double-team him or not, most of the time he was pulling up too fast and from too far for the defense to react. Just completely unguardable. it is.
and it does not say midgange is bad, it's just that there are better ways to score.

the point of the 6/6 3/8 comparison is their finals performance.
even if we disregard the playoff path to the finals discussion, it matters that one player showed to perform excellently in the finals and the other one doesnt, add to that all the control he has in choosing teams and teammates.

conclusions that it will be 4-0 for warriors is premature.
rockets got shocked by the defense in game one and everyone other than harden played trash.
even cp3s stats is padded garbage.
with both teams playing as designed, this matchup is equal.

What's your definition of excellency?
- Only player to average a triple double in the finals - Only player to lead a team to a comeback from down 3-1 in the finals - Only player to ever lead ALL players on BOTH teams in pts/rebs/asts/stls/blks in the finals - Five straight years of the finals MVP going to either LeBron or the player guarding LeBron
LeBron's finals stats
27.7 / 10.1 / 7.5 / 1.8 / 0.9 on 54 TS%
Jordan's finals stats
33.6 / 6.0 / 6.0 / 1.8 / 0.7 on 56 TS%
Are you sure that 3-5 argument is a strawman? Unless you believe 5.9 points and 2% TS >>>>>> 4.1 REB, 1.5 AST, and you completely want to ignore all the amazing shit LeBron has accomplished in the finals, it sure seems like BOTH of these players have been excellent in the finals.

Both teams have the ability to absolutely explode. My observation is that the GSW are much more even and their lows are higher. The Rockets seem to have brain fart games.
|
your stats speak for itself. jordan is a sg who played in a triangle so his reb and asst will be lower.
among many, how about not losing to a weak competition such as mavs?
having finals stats as he did vs. barrea and jason terry.
losing when he handpicked superstars in his team vs. spurs.
imagine jordan wade bosh allen.
imagine jordan irving love.
yeah.

Lets go Rockets! Go Harden!
