the term is performance margin, difference between its high and low.

it is applicable to both team and player.

I wouldn't even value Westbrook highly because I value efficiency very highly and Westbrook's efficiency, especially in the playoffs, has been trash for the last several years.

If winning/losing is the metric of a good performance then it's akin to saying every player on the winning team played well and every player on the losing team played poorly. That can't possibly be the case.

In two of LeBron's finals losses the 2nd leading scorers on his teams were Drew Gooden and Timofey Mozgov. In his last finals loss he played possibly the greatest team of all time.

Maybe LeBron should be 5-3 instead of 3-5. But there's no way in hell Jordan gets to 6-0 playing in the finals with 2 lottery teams and against the 2017 Warriors.

I think the player that has actually played the best in the finals so far has been KD. He's averaging something like 33 PPG on 50/40/90 numbers, and he played fantastic defense last year. But his record is only 1-1 in the finals.
