the best 5 man unit for the Raptors the past month is VanVleet-Wright-Miles-Siakam-Poetl.
my god they are a holy 5 man terror squad on defense.

God I hope they face Toronto. i think we are seeing today why Hill keeping Tatum or Brown or Irving in front of him has value. Hill is playing some good defense today.

I honestly thought the Cavs were going to continue to struggle while this new group worked to build its chemistry. I forgot the older team didn't have any chemistry either. Cavs are just younger, better defensively, and better shooting, and most importantly they are actually putting in effort.
Looks like JR got his confidence back. For a while he was hitting the side of the backboard with his shots and clearly lost his confidence because he was passing up wide open 3s and trying to put the ball on the floor. Now he's back to throwing up shots while falling out of bounds with a defender right in his face and swishing them.
JR shot 31% from 3 in January. LBJ shot 22% from 3 in January after starting the year shooting 45% through the first 3 months. Both are white hot in February, shooting nearly 50% from 3. Only a 5 game sample size but hopefully they can keep it going.

if i were toronto, boston or cleveland.. philly is the team i'd want to avoid in the 1st round.

i disagree with SVG saying Hill's defense has always been "excellent". He was probably just excited about the play Hill just made. i've yet to hear any serious NBA analyst describe Hill's defense as "ok" or "average". not one.

Keep in mind though, that Boston has been absolutely terrible for a few games now. This game could just be a symptom of that more than any evidence that Cavs are that much better.

Congratz to Dwane Casey on his 300th win coaching the Raptors.
its pretty unfair to Charlotte to play on the west coast at 10pm and then have to play a 1 pm game after 1 day off... no wonder they looked like crap.

this is the standard offensive boxscore analysis of player performance that is fairly common. it drops a lot of context. I'll add some context.
Wiggins played with 2 all stars and 2 solid veteran players against the team in the NBA with the least amount of wins. During his time on the floor Minnesota scored a lot of points, however, they gave up 4 more points than the opposition. This on a night when Minnesota won by 5. So (-4) playing with 2 all stars and 2 vets against the team in the NBA with the fewest # of wins. His team was +9 in his 13 minutes on the bench. Wiggins was poor last night.
Hill played on a team thrown together 2 days ago against a team that is 40-16 with the best defense in the NBA. Hill played during the most competitive parts of the game and not during any garbage time. No other Cavalier player was a (+) player on a per minute basis higher than Hill during the most competitive parts of the game, namely, +0.81 per minute. Hill produced 1.5 points for every shot he took against the best defense in the NBA. Hill pressured the ball out of Boston's best play maker and best ball carrier ... one Kyrie Irving.
Hill played better than Wiggins yesterday. It is not close. Proposing Wiggins played better than Hill based on offensive boxscore stats is a fool's errand.

i watched both games and Hill outplayed Wiggins. It was not close.
i would not say Hill was "amazing" I'd say Hill was clearly above average and Wiggins was downright bad. This is how a team with 2 all stars and 2 solid vets ends up in a 46 minute war with a bad Kings team.
going through the back and forth about boxscore analysis and its inherent flaws makes for a quality pedagogical exercise for the lurkers in the thread. so, thank you, for posting on this matter.

that Mitchell//Gasol double head-butt was grotesque. Rudy Gobert lookin' like a 7'1" allen iverson... LOL
Utah commentator guy : "looks to me like they are missing Rubio tonight. the offense is just not in synch".

Speculation is Westbrook will play tonight. He went through his standard pre game routine after shoot-around.

If anyone was interested the player was Zach Lavine! The bottom row is him on the Bulls and it down right horrible! That being said he a great steal and breakaway dunk to seal their game last night, so maybe there is hope! Except both teams were trying to lose at the end...
