Reading their interviews after each game, they were all essentially saying: "No idea how we're going to win. Cavs are way better than us." Terrible attitude. Well, they aren't wrong. If you cloned them a Lebron they probably still lose the series (although obviously not 4-0).

The cast for both teams didn't change really at that point from where they were when the season started though. Expectations for D'antoni were also really low after his stints with the Lakers and Knicks, and the Rockets coming off a poor defensive year and losing Dwight Howard in the middle, only to get a coach not known for preaching hard nose defense. I'm not sure how to feel about that. They weren't far off on the Thunder. They went from a near contender to a mediocre playoff team. I think what was wrong with the Rockets prediction is they didn't take into account how dysfunctional that team was. If you just take a look at the talent on each team, I think it's crazy to think Houston isn't in the top 4. This is the age of the 3 ball and they have tons of that. So, yeah, I think D'antoni did a good job, but I don't think he did a phenomenal job. The Clippers get 50 wins yearly with Doc.

in this ESPN poll its 43% dirty .. 42% not dirty. http://www.espn.com/sportsnation/story/_/id/19339300/kelly-olynyk-dirty-player that poll result sorta matches my view of the guy. if he dislocates someone else's shoulder he should be suspended for the rest of the playoffs. "The Cavs destroyed Toronto" https://theundefeated.com/features/demar-derozan-lebron-james/ i'm glad to see Spoelstra was ?co-winner? of coach of the year. I really liked watching Miami this year and Spoelstra gave James Johnson a lot of autonomy to run the offense when he had almost zero autonomy in Toronto.

Coming into the season they had 3 unreliable, injury-prone, borderline bench guys in Nene/Gordon/Anderson who actually put in healthy, productive seasons. Noone saw that coming. Recency bias has played a big part in overrating the talent levels on the Rockets due to Harden, injury luck and Dantoni's system. Capela also broke out, so prior to the season they had a very iffy looking front court and a potentially awful defense under Dantoni.

This year those 2 should have just met in the final and the other teams could have a playoff for third. For all we know Trailblazers or Pacers could be the 3rd best team just they met the superpowers in round 1!

Wutt? You sound a little homer-ish tbh. "most media outlets" and u only link the espn one, where even though they have them two spots below the Thunder, Rockets only have one-win less according to Vegas (44.5 to 45.5) and a higher RPM than OKC... That yahoo one, is one person's thoughts so I don't even care to read what he says for this but if you look at someone like Lowe http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/17777645/tiers-nba-zach-lowe then everything is normal. I am not an expert but in my preseason write-up in the other thread, I openly questioned if Harden would lead the league in assists and be an MVP candidate this season. As someone who watched what old-ass Kobe did in D'Antoni system, I knew Harden would beast out, and I think a lot more people did too. If the Rockets didn't get a better projection from some people it would be because of what Scarecrow said in that some of their players have injury/durability questions and Beverly had to get surgery to start the season. By the way, I support MDA for coach of the year, not against it

A good teammate for Westbrook would have literally been anyone who could shoot the three. @MassHysteria, I think Karazax is saying that the preseason rankings justify D'Antoni's COY award. Not sure if that's what you thought or are preaching against.
