i recall in public school a Jehovah's Witnesses guys sitting during the Canadian national anthem every day. We used to pound the crap out of one of them and a small part of the reason was sitting during the anthem... but he was an idiot in general... the anthem-sitting added about 2% to it.
i don't like how baseball games in the US now have the anthem and then "god bless america" during the 7th inning stretch. i go to a baseball game to have fun and watch a game not declare my stance on global politics. The anthem plus the 7th inning stretch at baseball games is too much.
is the anthem at the beginning and nothing else the rest of the game too much? dunno. i don't have much of an opinion on that. but, baseball games aer BS.

Kessler is injured, Browns on their fourth QB of the season

if the Bills can win this week and then all Cleveland has to do is beat New England and the Bills are tied for first! its almost like when Ryan Fitzpatrick was teh QB and the Bills were in 1st with a 5-2 record.

Is "good save the queen" played before every PL game? Hell no! It would just be silly! Countries with a healthier relation to their national anthem and symbols save those for INTERNATIONAL competitions, where the opposition is actually from another country. I am very pleased this redicolous tradition is backfiring. Back when I went to elementary school in the States they'd play the national anthem for us weekly over the intercom. And every morning before we started class we'd stand at our desks facing the room's flag (every room had one), put our right hand over our hearts, and recite a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and the country. It's been 20 years but I can still recite the pledge and most of the words of the anthem. It's impossible to overstate how important the flag and the anthem are to a lot of Americans (though I'm guessing this would vary greatly by race, education, and class).
Back when I was in the Philippines, we did the national anthem, some shitty pledge, the school song and a morning prayer every day. It was a waste of time every morning.
But then again, the US is not Europe either, where you have a lot of tiny countries having frequent international competition. It makes more sense to save those for international competition if you have frequent ones.

Wow. Washington gained 17 yards off an interception. The Raven fumbled and the ball bounced out of the endzone. End result: touchback.
|
Wentz throws his first interception and that's the end of Phillies' unbeaten start. Nice to see Shay take a knee after the int. Shows intelligence.

Darius Slay forces the Eagles first 2 turnovers of the season and the Lions win!

Dallas offence looks fierce tonight - almost makes me want to actually bet on them.

hahahaha we beat the Ravens through divine intervention. CJ Mosely picked off cousins on like the 15, tried to run it back and when he dove and stretched for the endzone he dropped the ball out the endzone for a touchback. Redskins go on to win 16-10

yea that play. Then we went down the field and scored a fg on the possession for a 10 point swing basically

With European eyes, it is extremely strange to play the national anthem when teams from 2 schools or cities play eachother. Nobody is representing their country, so no anthem. You will only hear occational team-songs or city-songs played.
Norwegian has a very strong relationship with both the flag and our national songs and costumes, but they do not belong in domestic sports. Maybe you feel proud hearing that song on the field, but when the guy opposite you, who will try to tear a limb of you every down, feels equally proud hearing the same song, what is the point?
I love the anthems at the medal-ceremonies at big championships, though! Even when national teams play, I think they have a place, as the team was actually chosen to represent your country, against another country.

I think theres nothing wrong with playing the anthemn before each game. Anthemns do get played during events and each nfl game is an american sports event.
Of course we dont play it here before soccer games this is because americans have more National pride. But thats not a bad thing imo.

The Chargers blew another one. LOL
This time it started in the third quarter with a shanked punt, another melvin gordon fumble and a mishandled snap on a potential game tying FG.
|
Lol whats up with the chargers... I feel so sorry for that dude
|
honestly the chargers are more lol than the browns at this point, the browns are just straight up cursed

I remember back in 2010 (I think) when the wikipedia page of Tate Forcier (Starting UMich QB in 2009) had something like "still butt hurt from being benched."

I don't know what sucks more!
Losing to the Lions or Wentz throwing his first Int on a really silly play like that!
