Someone pointed out that many of their most talented players are on rookie contracts and there will be a mass of contract negotiations due within the next two years. Even assuming the most optimistic of contracts, they won't be able to keep everyone. Their window to make the most of that talent is 1-2 years, 3 at most. In a way, they needed to spend this first round pick to make the most of their recent drafting and player development success. | ||
