I'm glad Liverpool lost because I always want to see teams that set out to play boring defensive football fail. If it starts to work we will get more of it and that's not a good thing. United's inability to play with any pace or create any kind of attacking threat didn't help the excitement levels either (especially the first half). Brendan Rodgers as much as stated they had come for a point before the game. That was a very low quality game for United vs Liverpool and shows just how bad both teams are right now. I'm kind of with Arsène Wenger on not signing anyone if there wasn't anyone right for them. It seems unlikely that they couldn't have improved their squad somewhere else. But Premier League teams are been taken to the cleaners for even mediocre players. So much money been spent for very little return. Arsenals squad is very good in every position. The problem is Aresnal want to be world class and some of the players are probablly only very good rather than wrold class. It is very hard to find World class players. I don't think any of the players that seemed available or made a move would actually have improved the Arsenal first team. Benteke's wonder goal brought some much needed excitement to Old Trafford, but is he really better than Walcott or Giroud? How much would Aresnal have had to pay to find out? On a similar note Arsenal, United, Liverpool all seem to be looking for a World class striker. There must be one about somewhere. I didn't see much of it but I caught the end of Munchen against Augsburg on repeat on Korean TV and that looked far more entertaining than anything I saw in the Premier league this weekend.

Sorry I live in the middle of nowhere amongst the shipyards of Goeje. I'm not a lot of help for that kind of thing.

My thoughts exactly. I was really mad at liverpool because manu was kinda harmless and they still didnt bother attacking. Regarding the strikers: There aren't that much world class strikers out there. And those who are play at worldclass clubs already. Not alot of possible options come to my mind here. But still, with all the money they have, they couldve probably signed Higuain or Lacazette for example.

But there were plenty of strikers available that might be an improvement over Giroud. It wouldn't have hurt to have another option.

Wtf, Toivonen. Should be 1-0. Kane's confidence is completely gone. He would have scored that volley last season. Hah, Kane's shirt has been completely torn at the lower back. Naughty defenders. Kaboul is so over the hill it isn't even funny. Drawn out by Kane to create a huge hole in the back for Mason to run into. I wanted the clean sheet points for O'Shea, you mug. (0-1 Spurs)

I am surprised with Spurs, last season few good results and could call it a transitional season. This season thought would start very well and be like the Poch Southampton team but it just hasn't really worked yet either. Strange. Maybe this result might spur them into action.

edit: not to mention, the manager is never backed with the players he wants. Thus far, Poch has asked for Schneiderlin, Musacchio, and Berahino, and has received Stambouli (sold), Fazio (cup games only), and no striker to speak of.

Wut, Villa were 2-0 up and dealing with the pressure well. I saw Leicester get one back before I went to the store, and they went on to win 3-2 from there. Welp. Apparently Leicester are a force to be reckoned with this season.

Leverkusen apparently were not that unhappy to lose Son, his recent form wasn't too impressive. Individually he is a good player, but he is not the best team player. If Tottenham find the right role in the team for him, he will shine. He could easily be their transfer flop of the season though.

Meanwhile the team that was so succesful at Southampton has been largelly divided up and a lot of those players are now struggling to repeat their form or simply not looking as good now they have moved on. Pochettino made a team that was far better than the sum of its parts and the big clubs came along and brought up the parts which don't fit togther as well elewhere.

He never strengthens properly from a position of strength. It's ok to say this season there was no one better available, although I'd say that's probably not true. I think Giroud's recent form and last season is really shielding an all out criticism of Wenger. If he has a bad run of games the reality of how terrible Arsenals striker position will become really apparent. Not to mention failing to sign at least a back up for Coq, or a proper CM, or a WC CB. Thing is even if no one was available why didn't arsenal try and replace RVP with a proper top striker? Why did he wait until Coq fell onto his lap due to an injury, he should have signed a proper CDM years and years ago. Cech is a great singing, but if arsenal had a keeper even close to his quality last season maybe they would have challenged better. Arsenal are always 1-2 signings away from the league title every year. I also don't buy the "We have/had no money because of the stadium" argument. It's called cash flows and investment people, the stadium was obviously built with some sort of projected profit in the future, therefore getting into debt for a couple of years in order to win a trophy would have been pretty sound business, in accordance with projected profits from the emirates stadium. They would not have built the stadium unless they believed it was a sure bet to make a large profit after completion, therefore they should have structured debt which they could delay payment until it's completion.
