There is most likely a benefit from ocasional fasting, but there is certainly benefit from having a minimum of muscle mass. You mentioned lots of allergies to powders. Can you eat meat? lots of it? Ah okay, that makes sense. Maybe in the future sometime I probably should just go ahead and eat a lot of meat, but I don't really have a chance to cook, so it ends up that the food I get usually isn't massively protein-rich.
Honestly at 120lbs you don't even need crazy amounts of protein. Do you know how many calories are you eating?

Studies have been done and as far as i know they have shown that its connected to longevity because it lower the risk of being overweight, getting diabetes etc.
If you are underweight you dont have to worry about that. If you have a hard time gaining weight then fasting is probably a bad idea as you need to cram all those calories into a small window of time.
Its good for cutting as its easy to undereat while fasting if that ever becomes a problem for you

start eating full fat ice cream after the gym but cut sugar everywhere else.
try coconut based ice creams if you are really allergic to dairy

Yeah I haven't been counting calories, really...I feel like I eat the same amount as ppl I know (i.e. my friends and I eat out, we all eat the same portion sizes). I eat a decent amount in snacks but not that much. One thing is I tend to skip breakfast D:, though most people I know also do, but they have no trouble gaining weight.

try coconut based ice creams if you are really allergic to dairy Oh that's a good idea. If I get protein powder, should I drink that as well as eating full fat ice cream? Yeah I'm definitely really allergic to dairy, egg, nuts, fish, shellfish so I'd have to do coconut ice cream stuff. Thanks dude.

yes always protein powder before and after the gym

If you think you're eating the same as others and not gaining weight, then why do you keep doing the same thing? Honestly at 120lb 5"11 it's about the lack of effort and trying rather anything special unless you have a thyroid condition

Stop assuming you know what others are doing. Do you spend 24hours with them? You don't know anything about peoples eating habbits just by watching them eating lunch.
What you know is that you are extremely skinny and others are not. If you cannot eat more for whatever physical/psychological reason, then you won't get bigger. Fat people need to eat less to get thinner and thin people need to eat more to get bigger. It is very simple.

4x6@200kg, last set here. If anybody has any advice it'd be appreciated
May I ask what the numbers for your other lifts (Squat, Bench) are and in what weight class you lift?

20 this year, haven't been squatting lately because of my glute but my best was 200kg at a meet competing at u82.5. Bench is 130

Could not agree more. Also, most people have no clue what proper nutrition is and have terrible skinnyfat physiques even though they "workout" and "diet"

I decided to do my workout quickly yesterday (actually my father, my workout partner did lol), since it's been taking up a lot of time for what I've been doing (4 exercises for 5 sets each), I averaged 2 mins rest between each rep, and finished in around 55 minutes.
It definitely showed I rest either too much normally, or I should take longer breaks. I was trying to catch my breath the whole workout, I don't think my heart rate dropped below 140~ there (also, do any of you use heart rate monitors for weightlifting? When I was looking for a cycling heart rate monitor, I saw plenty of the companies say that they are good for weightlifting too). Squatsx5, pull-upsx3, close grip cable rows x2, one arm C&J x5, skullcrushers x5.
Progress has been solid, 5lbs on squats every 2nd workout, same with bench, deadlift 5lbs every workout, etc. Pull-ups I'm still working on getting even the last set of pull-ups to 10 reps before I start using my weightlifting vest (though I think I'll work on form too, currently I tend to bend my knees as I'm going up for the last few, for an ever so slight boost).

companies saying their products are good for all kinds of things? dang
keep your heart elevated if you want to get shredded and live forever
take up to five minutes if you want to get dangerously strong and threaten your joint integrity

dont rest for too long or you run the risk of your mind drifting off and thinking about a girl and getting a boner in the middle of the gym jus sayin

Thank you for your really poor attempt at humor. Also, I workout at home, so that's not a concern.

Do you guys do any specific work for your front delts? Always thought they'd get enough work with OHP and bench, feels like I need to do direct work on them + pretty much everything upper body lol
+ Show Spoiler +
Think my glute rehab is going along quite well. Squatted 140kg for the first time in about 1.5 years without pain at all. Will probably compete in around ~13 week, hoping to take the u90 Deadlift record which is at 260. Here's to hoping everything goes well!
|
OHP is direct work on the front delts; in fact, it's about the most direct you can get given the inefficacy of front raises and related front delt isolations.
