The more you flare out your arms, the more you work your chest, and the closer you go, the more you work your triceps. Unfortunately for a full range of motion, if you flare out your arms too much, you're going to get a shoulder pinch injury and yeah, not a good time. When in doubt, start with closer grip, go lower on your chest, and slowly work your way until you're benching to your nipple. That's what I found the sweet spot of you're hitting your chest muscles reasonably well without being too prone to injury. For some reason people have a tendency to want to force the bar to their chest with barbell press, while with dumbell press if there was an imaginary bar connecting the two, most people wouldn't hit their chest, I think that's the main reason why you're less likely to receive an injury with dumbbell press. Either way, I don't know what your flexibility is, but I hurt my shoulder a bit when getting back into the gym a few months back simply by flaring my arms out too much, so don't rush into it.

One way to think about it is that if you buy the very best foods you typically have a little more leeway in your diet: the freshest wild game meats and fish and the freshest vegetables will tend to have higher quality fats and less oxidation potential. Cheap meats and farm-raised fishes might be a little more pro-inflammatory so you probably have less leeway to include things like sucrose and high fructose foods in your diet. They aren't "bad" for you per se but they might be a little more oxidizing. Most of the time that won't matter. And it's certainly not worth the cost difference if you are running a tight budget.

10x100 8x157 6x172 4x182 2x195 1x210x 1x210. Took me two attempts to hit 90% of 232 PR from earlier this year :'( hoping to hit 215-220 next week. Finally in my last week of rugby so I can get back into lifting full time and qualify for nationals at my next meet in Feb.

If so is this a worldwide thing or region specific? At least most european farmed salmon used to be really badly contaminated 10-15 years ago, right?

But whenever you read an article about "carcinogens" or some such you should ask yourself three questions: What's a carcinogen? Is the article's audience assumed to know what a carcinogen is? Does the author know what a carcinogen is? Eating inflammatory foods might be carcinogenic. But sometimes things lead to cancer in one set of circumstances and have no effect in another. http://www.ergo-log.com/the-more-inflammatory-factors-the-quicker-death-comes.html

215kg squat from yesterday. Only 93%, hoping my strength will come back quickly now that rugby season is over.
