i had a bit of a rooting interest in the game. Whenever the Warriors put their foot on the gas they shredded the Raptors defense.
the Raptors are a fun, exciting team to watch, but they'll need the right match up to even get out of the 1st round. A healthy Rose or LBJ trumps anything the Raptors can do in the playoffs.
Valančiūnas needs to stop his constant moaning, whining, and complaining. He is benefiting from the anonymity of playing in Toronto. The average casual observer probably does not see this, but the officials are growing weary of his "poor me" routine.
Look for Valančiūnas to get T-ed up for some single incident that does not seem very bad. It'll be a Technical based on months of constant borderline protests of Officials calls.
So on that play last night, Scott told Lin to wait until 10 seconds to foul. What's the rationale there?
1) Was Lin supposed to apply ball pressure and force a turnover? 2) Was the concern of leaving too much time on the clock? If they foul early, Conley hits FTs -> Lakers score from inbounds play -> too much time left for the Grizzlies to score again? 3) Or is Scott just a terrible coach?

This is a joke post right?

I laughed at Kobe's explanation. "European players are more skilled and play the game the right way".
When someone sits down and explains what "the right way" is and where it doesn't exist in Americans I'll be all for it.

It's a cute story line. They're definitely better (in particular on defense) but they had a stupidly easy schedule. Now they have Kings, Spurs, Mavs, Hawks, Nets, Raptors, Pelicans. If they can win 3 of those 7 (Kings/Hawks/Raptors, Nets, Pelicans), they'll be in pretty good shape in the terrible East.
This team is better off making the playoffs for culture than tanking, and sadly it's still pretty doable in the East.

He talked about footwork, competency with both hands and being able to post.
Being a wing dominated era has definitely changed the priority of some of these things, but I don't think he's off base with his criticism of AAU player development (it's more of a showcase than a place for development.)

i was not joking December 22 when i said the Raptors would be out of 1st in teh eastern conference on January 2nd, and i'm not joking with that comment.
If Rose or LBJ take extended rests in order to be ready for the playoffs and then end up playing the Raptors in the 1st round then Toronto is done in the 1st round.
A healthy Rose on Chicago takes down Toronto every time. A healthy LBJ on Cleveland takes down Toronto every time.
Toronto is great at beating up lousy teams.
Lowry plays a very physical game... if u think Lowry is going to keep on playing this way without getting hurt in the playoffs you must be drinking your kool aid out of Lake Ontario.
My real question is who is he comparing these AAU kids to? I wasn't aware there was much of junior player system in Europe. It seems like they throw in talented players into pro and semi-pro systems pretty quickly.

What I heard was that Scott wanted to save his time out for the last shot? So he was avoiding your point #2.
Glad mchale had the balls to bench Smith even though morey.guaranteed him the starting position. Team looks so much better, don't care win or lose, just play with effort like start of the season.
On January 04 2015 11:19 oneofthem wrote: why did morey guaranteed him a starting position?
Smith would only sign with a team that guaranteed it. Smith looks so much better off the bench, really like today's rotation, too bad took us few losses to realise that
gotta admit i was wrong when i said wolves would be very fun to watch this season. instead of wiggins and the young guys it is mostly thad young and mo williams chucking it up.

I don't see where the European players coming in to the NBA are better. They are just as raw at the same age. The more polished Europeans are older guys who have already established themselves in Europe. They are more comparable to second-fourth year NBA players.

Jimmy u r a #hottaek machine. Love it.
But there's a 0 percent chance Toronto even plays the Cavs or Bulls in round one.
