Posting in this thread to bump it. Might as well start using this one since the regular season is on the cusp of starting.

The NBA doesn't need shorter games; it needs a shorter season.

it is so frustarting to watch games with 10 min quarters. its just all over too quickly.

ETA: Speaking of bad GM moves from the last thread, The Pelicans giving up Nerlens Noel for the right to pay Jrue Holiday might be one of the dumbest gambles ever. Not solely based on this but then they wouldn't let an injured Eric Gordon go who wanted to badly leave, then signed Tyreke Evans too. Four terrible moves that is going to keep Anthony Davis off the national scene for another year.

I'm ready for the season. Who are the Lakers tanking for?

That will be harder to pass, as shorter seasons means less games which means less $$ for the owners voting on these things. NBA might just follow NFL's path and just reduce preseason games and those 3-games-in-4-nights and back-to-backs for teams.
That statmuse website looks amazing btw.
And are you gonna be a Jazz fan now that they got Ingles, RowdierBob =P ? They should at least be fun to watch I think (hope).

While I agree that all of those moves were highly questionable (not mentioned in the Tyreke signing was losing a super good value contract in 7mil a year for Lopez, a good backup or decent starting center), drafting an injured Noel wouldn't get Davis on the national scene any faster. He'd only just be starting this year which wouldn't have added more national games to the Pelicans schedule. Same with the pick we gave up that eventually became Elfrid Payton. Drafting a bunch of players who would need a minimum of a couple years to be league relevant doesn't help Davis or the Pelicans get on the national scene any quicker.
If anything, the actual shot the team has the playoffs this year by making all those questionable trades is one of the fastest ways to get Davis national attention.

finally the wait is over. god that was painful

I'd argue Nerlens Noel might be so good within 2 years a combo of him + Davis would force the league to put them on tv that much quicker

2 years from now is later than now?

next year I mean. Pels are on national tv this year?

Ok, get your argument straight. You said 2 years of the combo but if the Pelicans had kept Noel this would be the literal first year he gets to play. So do you mean 1 year of Noel + Davis would've been enough to get the team on national TV? Because I don't. They're clearly not a playoff contender if they spend the last two seasons just picking up young draft picks.
The Pelicans definitely aren't on national TV this year. My point was this year is the shot they get at relevance because the team overpaid for a bunch of decent talent to surround Davis with. While that's an obvious bad long term strategy but Noel hardly expedites things.

I was so sad when Nerlens Noel didn't stay in New Orleans.
|
This year being his first and next year solidifying him as an up and comer is what I mean by within in 2 years. I think he might just be that good that it would have really set them up for dominance in a short time span.

Yes. So two years starting from this year. Instead of this year, where the team should contend for a playoff seed while being really interesting.

edit -- I'm an idiot who completely mixed up the words in my head.
Yeah it could've been neat.
edit 2: holy shit that Eric Gordon block. Maybe he is healthy.

That statmuse website is awesome.
Spurs/Mavs have combined for 26 3-point attempts in 1st half. Hope Byron Scott isn't watching. He might get neck strain shaking his head.
