I just think that Washington's young fellas have a lot more potential and shown a lot more year over year growth than a lot of other teams in the East.

If they make the playoffs with that young team so quickly (da god Larry Sanders coming back?!) then holy shit for the rest of the league. That's a good 5 or 6 year window with valuable players to run wild. Iffy on the Bulls, Dallas, and Portland. Are you iffy on the Bulls because: you think Rose will get injured, Gasol is washed up, or what? I personally think Rose will be healthy, but I don't think he'll be recognizable as 'Derrick Rose' until post all-star break. I think Gasol will thrive and help them out, I think he'll be a big upgrade over Boozer. The biggest issue I forsee with them is the possible chemistry issue with Taj Gibson being unhappy with his role as a backup possibly hurting the team. I think Jabari Parker is going to be beastly and exceed expectations, I think Larry Sanders will be good again, I think they have solid role players: Ilyasova, Brandon Knight, and OJ Mayo can't possibly be shitty this year. Giannis is a huge wildcard, but if he performs I think they can definitely get in

Oj Mayo... ![]() Parker could definitely exceed expectations. Heck, I doubt it but he could even have All Star impact. That being said they'd need more from Ilyasova (easily possible but wtf happened last year?!) and Giannis who is supposedly going to spend some time playing PG. If Larry Sanders comes back to his old self then yea they are a lock to make the playoffs.

Unless we count the time their best player's knee exploded and their 2nd best player was playing on 1 foot.

Thibs does care too much about winning in the regular season and I think that's a good criticism of him but back in 11 before they gutted out bench the minutes weren't too bad, then they did and he cared too much and he gave everyone hella minutes again. Now that we beefed up our bench I think it'll be fine. If you think about it some of the injuries, like D Rose's 2nd one, weren't a result of overplaying him- he was still not getting full starter minutes iirc. I think it's a combination of bad luck and a terrible injury/doctor staff or whatever. Like the spinal tap on Deng thing and not diagnosing Asik's broken foot. Just need to poach Phoenix's medical staff.

Just need to poach Phoenix's medical staff. it's widely known that thibs runs a hard practice schedule. their regular season preparation is top notch. but in the playoffs everyone is more prepared so that edge wears down a bit. on rose's injury, there's some recent sports medicine study on why certain fast twitch/explosive athletes tend to get injured. one possibility is that they are just different from the less explosive guys and can't stand up to a lot of hard practice/minutes. it happens a lot in other sports, like usain bolt in sprinting or tulowitzki in baseball
