Yes I feel insulted. I've done a lot of experimentation with my macros and training to figure out what works well for me, I guess that kind of self-research does make me genetically blessed. Most people can't train alongside sickness because most people are as soft as wet newspapers. And I know you're joking Decaf, but if I used gear I would look decent I hope. I'd like to point out that the most common trait among the sucessful lifters here (and I bet anywhere) is that they spend time in the gym regardless of life consistently trough the years and work fucking hard inside it. Also understanding the value of self experience and evolving our training to a point where we make our own programming based on what works for us.

Squat: 220kgx1(PR), 175kgx3x7 BP: 125kgx3x3, close grip 95x10 PBTN 40kgx5x2 Tricep/curl superset So I've been watching a shitload of vids on how the chinese squat/lift/think and I think I've found my best form. I think I need a bit more ankle flexibity cause my hips go back a bit at the very bottom and should smash even more weight. I tought it was 215 but because of rounding now that I did the math its 220.

Today: Snatch 135 150x3 165x2 175x2 185x2 190x 190 195 205 210x 210x 210 215x 185x3x2 CJ 155 175 200 220 235 245 255x(jerk) 265x(jerk) 275x(jerk) 235 225 215 Squat 325x5 265x8 Jerk felt super solid up to 245 but I felt a pinch in my lower back on that lift, couldn't stick the heavier jerks after that. PR clean at 275 though! And PR set of 5 on the squat lol. I think I'm starting to like the CJ more or as much as the snatch.

I thought both squats were plenty deep enough and clearly accomplished the goal of the movement. I didn't think either looked particularly bad in terms of bar height. But both squat videos did seem to reveal a heavy reliance on the back and posterior chain; both lifters' hips look to be rising faster than the lifters' shoulders out of the bottom. If you want an olympic lifter this doesn't seem to happen, whereas a powerlifting squat is specifically performed that way to take advantage of the back and PC muscles. Flexibility and balance requirements are higher for the oly squat, but an oly squat also seems to require a bit more strength from the quads and hips than the "hybrid" style displayed here. I point this out because it serms like the center of mass for each lifter in the two squat videos moves slightly forward and then back when coming out of the hole, as opposed to an overhead or oly squat where the center needs to remain stable for the lift to be completed. It's possible that moving the center of mass creates some instability in the system which would result in more risk to back structures and the like. Perhaps decaf can comment, since most of my lifting career I used a wide stance power squat to move a lot of weight, and now that I've been focusing on high bar squatting to reduce bak load I've noticed a significant difference in the mechanics of the squat.

Compare stronglifts squat: to Chinese olympic lifters' squat: Back so upright. I guess Gotunk's first rep is pretty upright . . .

![]() At this rate it'll take like August to get to 100kg. To the people suggesting accessory exercises (incline, close grip): When should I do these? After bench on bench day? On not-bench day? To what weight in relation to bench and what rep scheme (doing SS with everything else)?

Yeah ideally you have a perfectly straight bar bath in the squat and don't lean forward at all from the unracking position. As quads glutes hips and core get stronger you don't have to shift the hips backwards then forwards, slowly getting the squat to look more like the ones in that chinese video. God i love that video.
