Eintracht Frankfurt isn´t really an opponent for Bayern, Dortmund would be only interested if Gündogan leaves and Kehl retires and Leverkusen doesn´t necessary need him.
I think for Bayern he is the poor mans Thiago. He is cheap now but in two or three years he would cost 10Million+. He is a solid talent but i think he will be on loan after half a season because on his best position there are potentially Martinez, Kroos, Thiago, Lahm an depending on the system also Götze, Müller or Shaqiri.
The only reason i could see is that Schweinsteiger leaves next summer and Lahm isn´t beeing transformed into a midfielder by Guardiola and stays as right cb. But even then i don´t think Rode has the skill or the reputation to replace Schweinsteiger even on a rotational level.

So it's pretty much for nothing lol

Bayern should just buy Messi already. It is clearly spending money for the sake of spending, why not just do it one go

Also in business sense it's most likely not correct to say "x have spent y million dollars" when in fact you will pay most of it as salaries distributed over several years. I think it might be more precise to say something like "Toronto FC plans to invest 100 million $ over the next five years".
Anyway, for now, this looks very much like a win-win deal for all parties directly involved; but I'm not sure if it benefits Bradley and the US national team in the long run.
No, you're right. American media report on it that way because the average fan that doesn't know European leagues doesn't even understand the concept of paying money to "buy" a player. Plus this makes Toronto look like they are splashing crazy cash right away.
edit: I don't mean its idiotic, American sports just don't work that way. Trades and Free Agency are the common method of swapping teams, and a trade will rarely have a small cash amount included in it.

Surely Madrid do not need Juan Mata, unless they offload Isco. I think Mata is going to stay put.

Yeah Di Maria makes no sense. Mourinho has been using him in that position for most of the season and it hasn't worked out at all. Btw that squad is just beyond ridiculous to be honest, but scoring 5 goals isn't going to help if they are conceding 6 with their shitty defense They need Kompany, Thiago Silva or someone to be a boss in defense for them to really be able to beat Bayern.

Afaik Messi got 2 team trophies (Liga and SuperCopa) and 1 Individual trophie (Golden Boot for the highest scorer in Europe).
Also Ribery got the CL MVP and Ronaldo got the most goals in CL, not sure if those qualify as trophies.

Super Copa is a glorified friendly to make the start of the season, same with DFB Pokal cup or something the German equivalent. Individual awards also don't count. Even though the Super Cup and World Club Cup are the same at least they are a european/world based friendly competition xD
This is a sky sports picture though reason not everything is listed. Like Assists would be useful to know due to all 3 players are mainly played as attacking players not just Strikers/Forwards xD
Also the biggest thing to sway this for me is the way Roandlo single handedly beat Sweden to take his national team to Brazil. I mean Ribery as lots of French people said during the games and before is Ribery doesn't turn up that much internationally. And well we all have this discussion about Messi every time Argentina play xd
|
Not sure what that "don't count" means Don't count for that picture? Because they sure count when thinking who is the best player in the world, at least in my head.
To get the Super Copa Barça had to beat Atlético in two games, it was quite intense, close and not friendy at all xD Atlético is a CL finalist level team this year. Bayern had to defeat a few terrible teams to get the Fifa World Cup, after winning the CL.
Last comment on the picture: Oh yeah I understood the reasons, was just pointing out how dumb they are lol As you said, a less biased picture should probably include total minutes played, assists and goals per minute (for those too lazy to calculate like me).

Sure thats your opinion on it but i'll happily say the Community Shield in England the same as the Super Copa is a glorified friendly to make the start of the season. That is the reason they are not on their anyway xD

That is the reason they are not on their anyway xD I'd say they're all glorified friendlies, but the circumstances can change depending on the teams. A community shield between City and United, or Tottenham and Arsenal is still an exciting match, which both teams will take seriously. The trophy doesn't count for much, though. In England it's slightly worse I feel, as lots of teams don't really play for the cups, allowing teams like Wigan or Portsmouth to win one now and again.

yeah community shield etc shouldn't really count as trophies, and individual awards are just awards. this year it belongs to ronaldo, if they wanted to give it to a bayern player they needed to choose a different one who is not playing in a similar-ish position and who is clearly less good at that.
|
kinda sad how Lahm or Schweinsteiger will never get one of these even though they both definitely deserved it at some point...

yeah if Lahm was a candidate I'd be supporting him all the way, but there's no way Ribery was as good last season as Ronaldo.
|
How is Jovetic a flop? He's been injured most of the time he's been at City :x
That would be funny if Real Madrid buy Mata. Sell Özil because the team don't play with a true number ten...buy Juan Mata.

Why did they have to go through the playoffs in the first place? And it was "only" Sweden. I'm not trying to say that Ronaldo did nothing for his national team, but when people say that Messi hasn't shown anything with Argentina while Ronaldo has, it just makes me sad. One qualified first in a group with the likes of Uruguay, Chile or Colombia, and the other failed to finish first with Russia and Israel. Yeah he turned up for the 2 big games, but if he hadn't it would have been abnormal...
I +1 one of the last posts, if we had Lahm or Schweinsteiger instead of Ribery, there would be no discussion. But Ribery vs Ronaldo/Messi is a tough choice x)
On another note, the IFFHS gave their Clubs World Ranking: (http://www.iffhs.de/club-world-ranking/#more-33) 1) Bayern 2) Real Madrid (???) 3) Chelsea (half ???) 4) Atletico 5) Barça ... 12) Dortmund (???)

We've had this discussion before lol. Portugal have nobody upfront to aid Ronaldo, while Argentina have a front line that would be starters in any other team in the world.
