Will the world cup do the same or will it be a break in the middle of a world cup for Xmas and New Years??
National leagues can take a break for the World Cup. The NHL does it for the Winter Olympics every 4 years.
The Olympic break is only 2-3 weeks, and they can make up for the lost time by cramming the remaining games together since there isn't as much rest needed between hockey matches.
For a World Cup, they'd need what, maybe 8 weeks? The squads need time to meet up and train, you need an entire month for the tournament itself, and it'd probably be a good idea to give the players a couple weeks to rest after the final.
I wonder how the heck that they will manage to work around it. There will be many league rounds, and domestic and continental cup ties to reschedule.

No, a rotational starter. Usually the 4th midfielder in a 3 man midfield. He does get some playing time due to suspensions/injuries and is often a sub.
As for why MLS. Guaranteed starter - though I'm sure he could have started for some other mid table team.
Salary at Roma: 800,000 Euros or ~1,100,000 (after taxes) Salary at MLS: ~$6,500,000 (reportedly)
As a fan of MLS, I'm loving this. A sign of MLS growing up. New CBA & TV deals are coming up which can transform the league (tho it's really the one after the next that has me truly excited).
Messi just returned after 2 months, played for 30mins and scored twice, one of them being a typical messi goal, just speeding for 40 meters to put it in the corner. Brace yourselves!
You know, that first goal (3-0) is exactly the reason why I like Messi so much. Makes it look so easy, just casually putting it in the bottom corner with less than no trouble. Nothing fancy or flashy or anything required.
100 mill?? They got the brazilian, the San Jose defender, Defoe and now Bradly how does that equal 100. And if it does then its nice to see that Rogers/Bell money being put too good use

Defoe is rumored to have cost around 50 mil not only in terms of salary, transfer fee etc. Bradley is around: Roma expects 7 mil more sources point to over 10 mil, 6.7 for five years for Bradley and so forth.
Yeah got to be things wrong with you if MLS start chucking crazy money at you to go play for them lol. Defoe has a great retirement fund to get now, also a great 2-3 years touring around America and Canada playing football ^_^
Correct if I'm wrong, but with respect to a football transfer, if you say something like "x spent y million dollars/euros/whatever for a deal", this normally only refers to the transfer fee. Also in business sense it's most likely not correct to say "x have spent y million dollars" when in fact you will pay most of it as salaries distributed over several years. I think it might be more precise to say something like "Toronto FC plans to invest 100 million $ over the next five years".
Anyway, for now, this looks very much like a win-win deal for all parties directly involved; but I'm not sure if it benefits Bradley and the US national team in the long run.
Every single German club wanted Frankfurts Sebastian Rode. Guess who got him! Correct, it's Bayern. Hope he get's some playtime but I'm a bit worried for him.
So now i'm ambivalent about bundesliga. On the one side, it can produce awesome games and great stories, but on the other, if your favorite team isn't bayern, don't hope for a championship :/ correct me if i'm wrong.

I dont get this transfer at all. sure its easy money for rode and bayern weaken their opposition, but except that what for?
