I mean, I think seguin and Rask will both be near the top at their respective positions for the duration of those deals, but it just seemed like with a little better handling, both could be on the team now on 2-3 year deals that give much more cap flexibility. | ||

edit: Just read this elsewhere: for a contract signed in the old CBA, if a player retires before the contract is over and the contract was a back diving contract, the difference between actual salary and salary cap will count against the team’s cap. Ilya’s cap hit is 6.666,667. His salary is above that until 2019, when it falls to 4 million, then 1 million for the final 5 years. In 2019-20 the Devils will have a cap hit of 1.6 million, and from 2020-2025 he will count against the cap for 5.6 million. Until 2019 he won’t count against the cap as his actual salary is higher than cap hit. If so, then double lol. edit 2: The above seems to be false because of the number of years currently played-out of the contract. So it won't be as funny. | ||
