I liked what I saw of Beaulieu, but I don't see why the Flyers make that trade. Moen is basically a salary dump, but I guess we'd need another forward. Plekanec is a real good player, so I wouldn't be totally dismayed at the deal. Don't know if Bealieu's game will translate to the NHL-level, especially if we could just have Coburn instead. Also, Simmonds is definitely a quality player and quality guy. Contract term is long, but I want him on this team for a while.

I guess the qualm wiht better fit means youve identified him as a core player which is odd I wouldn't identify him as a core player, but considering he gets along with guys like Kessel so much. I think it means they're satisfied with keeping Kessel and probably leaning towards getting rid of Phaneuf considering his contract is about to expire and he's probably going to be asking for more money, lol. We already picked up a few more defenseman, so I don't know. On July 06 2013 07:43 sharkeyanti wrote: Hey Starstruck and JimmiC, I come into this thread to talk about hockey. Can you please PM if you're really that heated about something. I do not give two shits about some trifling internet feud, and I can't imagine anyone else does. Phaneuf, and all his faults, is still a pretty damn good player and these two awful contracts really hamstring retaining him. Also due up in the next couple years are Kessel, Bolland, Kulieman, Gardiner and Reimer. Kadri is also due this season. I mean maybe they make a decision on Reimer by next year and that saves money, but even still, Bozak and esp Clarkson's contract are really gonna hurt o nthe short term. On the long term, it is gonna hurt if guys like Kadri and Colbourne reach their potential by their second contract. Precisely. We're in deep shit and so many people were so happy to clear up a ton of space because we have barely anyone locked up. You know how I was talking about all those changes they made this year? Wait until the next, derp.

And the iggy deal is 1.8 mill gaurenteed rest is games played and preformance bonus's, If he gets his full 6 mill he will be worth it. $3.7mil for games played and 500k for points/playoff performance isn't that bad. That 3.7 million will be awfully easy for him to make on top of the 1.8 though because everyone knows Iggy is an iron man. So in reality he's going to get at least 5.5mil.

The amount of money NSH spent is a story I guess. There weren't really any big FAs available, so that could be part of it. Also, TOR, MTL, PHI, NYR are always the center of attention for rumors anyway. Feels like all the focus was there, and perhaps for good reason.

The Wild have dumped the majority of their supporting staff and picked up Niederreiter from the Islanders. Clutterbuck, Setoguchi, P-M Bouchard, and Cullen included. It'll be a mostly new squad around Sutter/Koivu/Parise + the youngsters, so it'll be pretty interesting to see if we can become a meaningful team. Might be a nice change to see us competing for the first time in the better part of a decade.

Why is the cap going down next season :\ this is a really silly way of looking at this problem also, so long as their is a UFA process, people will be overpaid. and the league is much much better off with ufa than it is without that. more parity, players get more money, there is more excitement year to year as you can go from scrubs to contenders with a few good moves, or from playoff team to wtf if youre the leafs or flyers as of late, or rangers back i nthe day. the only thing that will change is how they are overpaid based on what the cba allows.
